Fuel Injector Mod

I hope that this hasn't been covered before, if you you can say "do a search noob." Anyways I know that the WRX and the Legacy use different injectors but there is a mod for WRX injectors in which you simply cut off part of the tip to create a higher flow rate. WRX owners say this acutally works and can save you big $$ over new injectors. So, if this is a possibility for the WRX, why not our cars. I'm sure there is some obvious thing I'm missing here but are there any thoughts.

actualy i was about to adress this but since vrg3 wants to be clever ill ask a more focused question. the wrx boys claim 740 cc flow. and that you shouldnt do the mod w/o em. so the question is what will the estimited flow of a modded leg injector be.

Didn't vrg3 say he would do the mod to a set if someone else would pay for it?
How much $$$ is it going to take? I would put something toward it.
Liberty guys are getting 200+whp on the same injectors we have.

Those questions were answered in other threads... I wasn't trying to be clever.
But, I guess it does make sense to recap... everything I say here has been posted already, but in different threads.
Stock EJ22T injectors cannot be modified in this fashion. Stock 92-94 non-turbo EJ22 injectors can.
I did the mod to several injectors. ciper was going to pay the ~$25 per injector to have them flow-tested professionally. I was going to make my own testing rig and flow-test them amateurally. Neither is going to happen soon, since I don't have my stuff and am busy with school, and because ciper's on hiatus.
Until one or the other is done, we don't know how much they'll flow. As a random CATV-appointment-style guess I'd say between 400 and 800 cc/min.
You definitely need custom engine management to use these modified injectors.
Assuming proper engine management, a 0.55 lb/hr-hp BSFC, and a 90% maximum injector duty cycle, the stock 35 lb/hr injectors can support about 4*35/0.55*0.90 = about 230 bhp. Those numbers are fairly generous though; usually 90% is too high a duty cycle to reliably run, and the BSFC of our engines is probably closer to 0.6 lb/hr-hp.

Sadly, no. Next time I visit DC I will try to remember to grab the modded injectors so I can send them off for testing.
