Can anyone help? I'm not sure what viscosity oil I should use for my BD5 RS turbo. Im thinking maybe 15w 40. Does anyone have any suggestions on what is reccommended for my engine? thank Mark

I use Mobil 1 10W on my N/A year-round here in New England. Tried the 0W, but the car leaked a lot more as well as with the 5. With the 15, I found the hydraulic lifters to make more noise for a little longer at start up than with the 10 (which was about the same as with the 5). 0W did get rid of the lifter clatter, but would go through over a quart every 1000 mi (which is a short time with the way I drive). That's worse than a new Volkswagen! With the 10W I go through a quart about every 1500 mi. depending on how much I hang onto red line (my car has 223K).

I`ve been using 10w-40 oil as long as I can remember and have been very satisfied. It seems to be a happy medium. Now, I don`t live in a real cold climate so someone from that type of area may be able to help. If it`s feasible, switch to a synthetic as it`ll protect your engine much better than dino oil. I use Red Line and change it every 10k miles (filter at 5k); Red Line says I could even go to 15k. Too old school yet to do that as it was hard enough to get away from 3k changes!! Anyhoo---just a thought--Rod
