WTB - MAP sensor for 91-94 turbo legacy.

Does anyone have access to a junkyard with a turbo legacy in it? I was hoping to get a junkyard MAP sensor, if it's in working condition. I'm sure the dealer wants a pretty penny for a new one:(

There's also a pressure sensor used to measure manifold and atmospheric pressures.

boostjunkie, I don't know where you could get the correct sensor, but there are alternatives.

I haven't had a chance to finish figuring it out, but I also suspect my sensor is going bad and I have a Chrysler turbo MAP sensor that I plan to adapt to my car with a little signal conditioning circuitry.

You could also use the sensor from a 1995+ automatic naturally aspirated Subaru; I've built the necessary signal conditioner for that one. The limitation is that it can only read up to 6 psi of boost. You could also see that as an advantage, since it acts like a built-in FCD. :) I have several of these sensors lying around.

How much for the 95 MAP sensor and associated signal conditioner?

So let me get this straight. This MAP sensor will only read to 6psi . . . so will the ecu start to freak out at pressures higher than 6psi? I'm assuming by your description of the sensor that it's like voltage clamping the stock MAP sensor at 6psi, corrrect?

Oh, and Aaron's ej22t . .. your turbo legacy has BOTH a MAF and a MAP sensor.

Umm... I dunno. I don't have an extra conditioner already built but I could get the parts and build one... How about fifty plus shipping?

Yes, it would basically clamp at 6 psi. Any pressure reading below about 21psi absolute will be correct; above that it will still read as 21psi absolute. So vacuum and boost up until 6psi will be correct and boost above 6psi will be seen as 6psi. It would basically be similar to most commercial fuel cut defencers except that you can't choose the threshold. The ECU won't know that you're boosting higher.

I'm pretty sure the Chrysler sensors can read boost up until about 30psi absolute (about 15psi boost) so it would be preferable. I just haven't even touched the Chrysler sensors on the shelf in my garage yet.

Cool, I'll get started building the conditioner. The connector for the NA sensor is different so you'll have to splice the wires in. I guess it would be simplest to make the conditioner also fit underhood so you don't have to splice again for the conditioner. It'll take me a few days to build it anyway so it's no problem to wait on payment.

I do come down to McLean on occasion, but haven't had time lately... I really need to finish my master's thesis quickly so I'm really busy most of the time. Actually, just this past weekend I was supposed to go home to McLean to pick my brother up for school but instead I had to have my parents bring him halfway and meet me in Hazleton, PA. :) The last time I was in McLean was for like 2 days in July for my parents' 25th anniversary.

Next time I do come down we should meet up and go on a trip to Crazy Ray's or something.
