Alright, so i'm going to Rally San Remo at the beginning of October. I'll also be taking some extra vacation time to check out the italian scene...
So who has been to a WRC event? Who has been to italy? Who has been to a WRC event in italy?
I'm looking for any info, recommendations, tips that can be provided. Hell, if you know someone in italy that would house my two friends and i for a day or so while we're there, that would kick ass!

Well, I've been to a WRC event. The Acropolis in 2000. I've also been to San Remo, stayed there for a few days in the summer of '99. It's a cool town, but watch out for the MILLIONS of people on scooters/mopeds. It's crazy! But yeah, you'll have an amazing time. Just try to hook up with some locals and make sure you go armed with EVERY map you can find. It's a PITA trying to find maps once you're there because they're all in Italian/Greek/whatever language is spoken there. I assume you'll have a rental car?

Yes, that's the plan.

Rentals ROCK! We had sooo much fun in ours. It's cool because you get a manual tranny no matter what you rent. We had a sweet Opel Corsa 5 door hatchback. It had no tach, but we still got that bitch up to 130. Driving around San Remo during rally time might be super tough (trafffic). When we were in Greece, we even picked up a few American kids at the hotel we were staying at and took them to the rally. They had never seen/heard of rallying much before that trip, but we got them amped on it.

I've been to Italy, but not San Remo. If Rome, Sorrento, Naples, and Capri are anything to go by if you like emotional people, you'll love it. They drive like maniacs (I felt right at home) pulling hand brake turns on wet cobblestone while putting on make up (the women). The men don't seem to like to use deodorant though (expensive), so pack a suitcase full and sell it there to finance your trip.

Sooo many beautiful women, but I love darker women and bodies with shape. Have fun. Wore a Subaru 555 team hat when I went and people took me as a local until they tried talking to me. Subaru is a popular team there (even more so in Greece).
Try to pick up a little Italian before you go as I could've had a blast with these two beautiful women on a scooter and two more later on who were having trouble with their Peugeot if I could've communicated a little better...

Buon Giornio Senorina
Le Come Sta?
Multo Bene Gracia?
Le Capishe Inglese?
If she says Si then your set. If not your' going to need more lessons.

I envy you. I almost bought tickets to fly to the UK for the British rally. Round trip in November was on sale for like $150/ticket out of NY but I'd have to get there first and flights anywhere from Colorado aren't cheap. I wanted to go to Cyprus too. They just added the Corona Rally in Mexico to the WRC line up so hopefully this March I am going to Mexico. If anyone else wants to go we could have a huge Subaru contingency there. See
www.wrc.com or rallyplanet.com for more info on that. Have an excellent trip Jason. Don't buy too much Versace though.

Good Day miss. I need to learn hot lady though. Good guessing. It's kind of scary how close all the European Romance languages can be. My little knowledge of Spanish has helped me in learning my little knowledge of Italian.
