Turbo Timer - Blitz VGTT - Installation Info Needed...*PICS*

Hey Guys,

I have recently purchased a Blitz VGTT (Voice Guided Turbo Timer). Needless to say that I got it used on eBay and obviously it didn't come with an installation manual.

I would really appreciate if all of you, who have installed turbo-timers in their Leggy's would take a look at the pictures below and help me decipher how I should hook this beast up.

Here are the pics:

...After countless hours of searching for a wiring diagram, I have been able to come up with an "approximate" wiring diagram based on the on the standard wire colors used in other turbo-timers (Like the HKS type0 and Apexi TT).

Please take a look at the wiring info below and let me know if it looks approximately like the wires in the turbo timers which you've had experience with:

*************************************************
* RED: 12v+ Constant
* BLACK: 12v- Ground
* GREEN: Ignition 1 Output
* BLUE: Ignition 2 Output
*
* PURPLE: Vehicle Speedometer Signal
* WHITE: HandBrake Switch?
* BROWN: Shift-Lock? (for cars with an Automatic Tranny?)
*************************************************

Last, but not least, I would be very greatful if you guys could help me out with wiring this turbo-timer up. Specifically, what I'm looking for are the colors and locations of the ignition, speed-signal and handbrake wires.

...actually, I think that I've already found the "Vehicle Speedometer Signal" wire on vrg3's ECU pinout diagram. I think that it's the "B58.11 VSS" wire on the following diagram:
http://www.graphics.cornell.edu/~v/ecupins/

The question that baffles me the most are the two "Ignition 1 Output & Ignition 2 Output" wires... where the heck do they go? Do our cars even have 2 Ignition wires, or is it only found in newer cars?

The last thing on my mind is: how do I get this Turbo-Timer to work correctly with my Clifford Matrix 3 alarm system. Of course I would like to hook it up in such a way that after I finish driving, I would take the key out of the ignition, the turbo-timer would keep the car running, I would arm the alarm system, lock the doors and after the turbo-timer shuts down the engine, the alarm system is still armed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...
(I also wouldn't mind documenting this whole procedure and setting up a Turbo-Timer DYI site for the Legacy SS)

Thanks in advance!!!
Peter

...is anyone willing to attempt "cracking" this wiring problem?

Thanks,
Peter

Well I cant offer any help other than to tell you that you must get a wiring diagram. DO NOT GUESS based on other turbo timers. Also one thing I can see is that the blue and the green are not heavy enough gage wires to support ignition current so you would have to use a relay and find out if the blue and green are possotive or negative triggers. There must be something out there. Even if its not toll free you should call blitz to get some info.

ok, this was the second reply on my google search http://www.240sx.org/links/installs/blitz/tt/ Looks like the orange is the tack, the purple is the hand brake and the white is for autos only it says (still dont know what that means). This guy is clearly talking about an external "relay pack" which he refers to ass "FATT". You are missing this, I think thats what the blue and green wires go to as triggers for the relays like I said before. I can help you make up a relay pack but we to find out if they are pos or neg like I said before we do anything.

This is how I wired my Apex TT: You use green and blue as one wire, and connect to the red wire on the IG switch harness. I didn't have to cut anything, I just mashed the wire in the plug. Red is power, black ground, those are pretty obvious, the last 3 I would think they don't have to be connected, at least the handbrake wire is optional on most timers, so those may be also. The blue green red black wires seem to be universal to most TT's, so you might want to try. Good Luck

BTW what the hell is "voice guide"?

LOL!

...You guys crack me up :D
magicmike <- thanks for all your help with the wiring info. That link which you posted above (for the Blitz FATT Turbo Timer) is wicked! Pretty much all the wires in my TT and the one in the link are the same.

As to the other questions, I pad something like $30Us for it (Shipped from Japan), so I might as well throw it in the car.

VGTT - Voice Guide Turbo Timer = the turbo timer screams at you in Japaneese every time you turn on your car or take the key out. Of course you can turn that option off. The only thing is that when the TT speaks to me I don't have a clue what it's saying... I need like a JDM translator or something. lol!!!

Thats awesome, I'd wait until a girl sat in the car and then turn it on and tell her that the car has an alarm if the weight capacity has been reached in the passenger seat lol I'd say it translated into "only one occupent per seat!" lmao

Damn I crack myself up

Well no offence to 91White-T but dont hook it up like he did. There is definately a relay pack used with that system and those are triggers, not full current outputs. the difference is that a trigger is only rated at aproximately .5 amps which is good enough to trip a relay coil. Do some more research before you go wiring the shit up and melt the unit. And for the love of god dont mash the wires into the plug, use a 3m T Tap at a minimim or splice into the wire and you some electical tape as a last resort. not trying to piss you off 91white-T but I dont condone hooking stuff up dangerously.

No offense taken. I don't really see what's so dangerous about it though (clearly its not the right way to do it, but I don't particularly care about this car), all the red wire does is tell the computer when the key is in the "on" position. Well, I've had no problems with it...

Hi , Boostaddict !

Did you ever get this installed , I may be able to help if I get the car I am looking at as it also has one of these.
Do you have the user guide on how to operate it or know how it is config'd and used ?

Cheers

Timbo

Hey timbo_1000,

I think that I have all of the info needed to hook this turbo timer up, but I'm still waiting for my carbon-fiber gauge pod to be finished before I mount the turbo timer.

All this time I was trying to figure out a way to hook up this turbo timer in such a way that I would be able to arm my alarm with the engine on. I think that I've figured it out though (one reverse relay on the ignition wire leading to the alarm should trick the alarm into thinking that the engine is off while the turbo timer is running).

As to the operation of the timer, I have never received the manual... but I'd be really curious to know all of the features of this turbo timer and all of the button combinations to activate them.
The biggest question that I have is: "how the heck do you switch the voice-language from Japaneese to English"? I know that it's possible, but I still haven't figured out the button combination responsible for it.

Man, most people get tripped out by all the gauges lighting up and the noises and the turbo timer chirping stuff at them... if I could get something that screamed Japanese... oh man... :D

Lol!

...Only if I could understand WHAT the thing is screaming in Japanese at me.

That is SOOO not the important thing here. :P

LOL , i cant even get the damned thing to work as a turbo timer properly :)

It chrips some japanese at me when I turn it on that sounds like 'Sammy O Davis' lmao !
But the timer doesnt count down when the key is removed , I can change the time on it and I can press a button and it kills the engine and I can move the handbrake and it kills the engine.
Just the basic turbo timer function itself thats a prob and yes getting it into english which you are correct is possible ( but how ) !
