Hmmm, another injector possibilty for the EJ22T?

I was looking around at some injector options recently and came across a site that offers the 440cc v5/6 STI side fed injectors for $450 and they claim that they fit the MY98 Impreza RS's fuel rails. Will the 98 RS rails work on our heads? I know that 440cc isn't
that much of an improvement but it's better then our stock 370cc.
Also, does anyone know for sure wheather or not the oem wrx (EJ20T) rails will work on our heads?
And what about the USDM STI's (EJ257) rails? Will they work? I found 565cc STI injectors for $400 a set!

Now that would be sweet!
It would be really nice to figure out our options once and for all, so if anyone can add anything please do!

I think the MY98 RS injectors are the same shape as 92-94 NA BC/BF injectors. So even if the RS rails don't fit, it still might be possible to use the STi injectors...

I actually found a special intake manifold with 550 cc top feed injectors that was made for subaru engines. All that needs to be done is relocate the coolant tank. I'll be picking it up soon for $250, intake manifold and all.

I own a set of those yellow top 440cc STi side feeds. They are way bigger in size than the stock injectors, but then you probably already know that. I still have then in the STi rails and will see if the rails will fit around the EJ22T manifold that I have out of the car.
But a more likely solution would be to use the grey top 440cc injectors out of an early EJ20G and include the short section of the rail that actually holds the injectors. I plan on pulling my EJ20G out of the car on Saturday and starting to tear it down on Sunday. I will pull that middle rail section with the injector attached and see if it will fit into the stock EJ22t rails...

Sweet. That will be interesting to see how they match up. Could you check to see if the whole EJ20G rail would swap over too or does it obviously not fit the EJ22T?

Matt,
I don't plan on pulling the rails off the EJ20G manifold since I am selling them off as a unit. I am only going to remove that little shorty center section of rail that holds the injectors and see if that will fit into the EJ22T rails. I doubt the actual rails themselves would flow any better ,anyways...

Oh, right on, that's cool. I didn't really think the rails would flow more, I was just wondering what for rail assembly options we might have.

More info DXZ? That's an interesting idea...

Different years of subaru's had different intake manifolds. One of them looks like ronald mcdonald's arches and is great for low end torque. Another one is flat with top feed injectors. It came off of a heavily modified turbo legacy that was stripped down a while back.

Who makes it?
On another note:
Found this at RS25.com....

It would seem that SR20DET injectors fit the EJ22 fuel rails...

subaru makes it, John had it on his legacy that had a 419 hp dyno.

Those will need a spacer under them. And there are just so many SR20DET's around here. I don't think the stock injectors are very big and the aftermatket ones are $$$

What Subaru did it originally come from then? Did it bolt up to the stock heads?

Matt, I thought the grey 440's were hard to find and expensive if you can find them. I'm still looking for a easy and cheap way to do it.

Well,
The EJ20G mini injector rail is not an option. I test fit last night and it is about an inch longer than the stock one. And the whole rail won't work either. The mount points and distance between the injectors relative to the rail are different.
But '98 RS rails might fit. That would allow you to use yellow top STI injectors. I am just too lazy to take the rail all the way off the filthy dirty EJ22T manifold to test fit this...

OK,
I now have a '98 RS manifold and rails. Won't work either...
