I just put some 18" rims with tires on my 92 sport sedan. If i hit a bump too hard or anything like that, the suspension in the rear rubs against the tire. anybody have some advice? the tire size is 225/40R18.

Get wheels and tires that fit.
Roll the fenders, and get the proper offset wheel. If the wheel isn't hitting the suspension at rest, it's probably not going to hit it under load. 1/4" is plenty of clearance between tire and strut. It's probably hitting the fender well, and you will need to roll your fenders to clear them.
The best way to solve the problem is to get coilovers and run a higher offset wheel to tuck the whole setup into the fenderwell a little bit to clear the fender lip and not have to worry about strut clearance.
