Bummer of a gas leak

Well, to start things off, I'm not a very happy camper right now...
About a month ago I began to notice a faint gas smell in and around my car, most noticable after parking, going in a store for around 10 minutes, then coming back to my car. It was pretty faint though so I didn't think much of it.
WELL, after about 2 weeks of that, the smell got REALLY bad, to the point where if I stopped at a red light, I almost passed out from the gas fumes. Obviously I had a leak somewhere, so I sidelined the car and had it towed to my mechanic. Well, he checked it out, and turns out I need a new gas tank
. He's working on getting me one from one of his suby's which'll cost me $400, and if that doesn't work I'm looking at $800 for a new one (both prices w/ installation and all that).
What's crazy though is that this leak was directly over my exhaust pipe
. My car was a rolling bomb for a while there, so I'm quite glad I'm getting it fixed.
But anywho, I haven't had my car for about a week now, and it's driving me crazy!! I miss my baby
.
Alright, just thought I'd throw that out there
Cheers, -James
