Automatic Seat Belts

Hey Guys,
What does activate the seat belt when you close the door, what does make it to start running, is there a sensor or something? Mine is a little retarted, sometimes when i close the door it wont run back on the track so i gotta open the door and close it a few times to activate it.

Our resident genius, vrg3 can help you with diagnosing the electrical parts of it, however, I know that sometimes the belts just wear out. The solenoid that controls the seatbelts is in the vertical pillar directly to the sides of the front seats --it's covered by the plastic trim. Pull that trim off, and down near the bottom, you will see the seatbelt actuator. If you're willing to be risky, head out to your nearest junkyard and pull yourself another solenoid, to replace your failing one. This
should make the belts work better, although, there's a reason we don't still have them today

yea, cars have airbags now. One or the other is required on all vehicles

so what does make the seat belt roll when you close the door?????? is there a "bang"switch?

Neo,
The seat belts are activated by a switch in the door latch itself.
Your problem could be in that particular switch, or possibly in one of the limit switches.
Has the seat belt light guy on the dash blinked or stayed on? It's possible the auto seat belt computer has a code stored.

Josh- There's a computer for the seatbelts? Damn, I should get some of this stuff fixed while I have the car sitting!

Thanks Josh i'll check that, THX the computer on the sedan is in the left side inside the trunk by the hinge, remove the carpeted trim and there it is, usually the computer box is green.
