Post by Weazel240 »

hey guys. i just picked up at Legacy AWIC(jdm?) and i have no clue of where to start.
i have a silver AWIC, pump, resivor, and hoses. the most important thing is what else is needed for this set up and where do the hoses go from the right side of the AWIC go to?

Sorry for the huge picture. You can see I put the pump where the AC used to be. You also need an oil cooler or some other smaller radiator. I placed my small radiator in front of the regular radiator.

thanks -k- for the link it was really helpfull
so its simple to 'hose' everything up.
intercooler - coolant inlet and outlet to pump and radiator and back?

do i need a resivior for it? cuz i do believe i got one.

the only thing i would need custon is the turbo to intercooler connector
and the PUMP needs to be rigged to the Throttle sensor?
- how does that work?
thanks

Don't quote me on it but i think the electronic wire one is the temp sensor. dunno what the pipe is for though.

That black round thing with the wires going to it is a level sensor, I believe.

The cap on the upper left is a radiator cap; that's how you fill the intercooler.

I think it's just connected to a warning light on the dash. You should be fine without it.

For the radiator, I'd just go to the local junkyard and look around for a heat exchanger that looks like it'll fit nicely.

ok sounds good.. so is this set up simple?
from the link '-K-' posted. it looks pretty simple. maybe a lil Fab is needed for turbo to IC connector.

so the AWIC it self.. inlet out let hose pump and a small Rad?
no resivior?

The resevoir is up to you. The larger the resevoir, the larger the capacity of the water to take on heat. You could monitor the temps of the water to see if the water becomes "heat soaked" or you could just estimate how much resevoir you would need or want. Or you could just run it straight. I've found that just about no one has ever watched their AWIC water temps... I want to, but the low temp gauge I want is over $150.

The nipple that comes out by the cap is an overflow just like a radiator has. I don't think I even hooked up mine.
I have not watched the temp of the water in mine because right now there is no way I'm pushing the stock setup too hard.
