i really like the legacy nameplate on the rear 1/4 panel on the pre facelift cars. how hard would it be to add it to my 94?

The actual 90-91 badges have small tabs on them that go into holes in the 1/4 panel. This holds em in along with double sided tape. On a post facelift, you just cut these tabs off the badges and secure it with only duble sides tape. Pretty simple.

I like those myself, but they don't fit the wagon body lines. If the front fenders ahead of the front doors were longer like my old Zs then I'd put them there just like the Datsun script on the Z.

I like em alot too. I went to the local yard which had 4 90-91 sedans. Except the 1/4 panel badges were all broken on every single one. Some idiot that doesn't have any patience or knowhow snapped them all in half and left em on the car. Man that pisses me off

i wish i still had my touring wagon LE badges.

I pulled a couple from the yard about 8 or 9 months ago, had one on my monitor for a while, til i tried to bend it to fit the curve and it broke. :doh:

I swear I'm the only one out there that prefers the post-facelift look to the older legacies.

I hate the front end on the 90-91's and personally, I think the badge on that 1/4 panel looks almost out of place.

That being said, i'd be interested in seeing pics of a post-facelift car with that badge in place there.

i never understood the reason subaru decided to:

1) not continue the 1/4 panel line under the window around the hatch on the wagons.

2) not keep a continuous line under the rear window to the rear 1/4 window on the sedans.

Giorgio Giugiaro designed the Legacy for Subaru, so you'd have to contact ItalDesign with the question about the sedan's window line. The wagon rear hatch line is likely due to minimum window height regulations in Japan.

Its a design whatchamacallit. You can only see it well on certain colors of car and with I think it was reflective tint. The window line is dropped below the front hood line similar to how it is in the rear. I think it was Speshal's car that I noticed it on. Its just that the rear one sticks out and the mirror area hides how it has the same drop up front.

That is the one design point that really stuck out and irked me for a while, too.

Here's a pic. See how there is a hook in the body line front and back. It's like the passenger area windows are dropped for better visibility (and more uglibility as opposed to the less practical but cooler looking chopped look).

i never noticed that before, good call. i cant say i am in love with it, but knowing the reason its there softens the pain.

i love the body lines on the 90-94 legacy. i still prefer the looks of the 90-91 though. but i love the way my 94 SS drives so i am willing to overlook the design. i know its a big sacrifice but hey you do what you have to.

in reality im not too concerned about minor styling issues since i am inside the car driving it more than outside looking at it.
