Banjo bolt

Important part of post:

Does anyone know if these are the same size on the single piston Legacy and WRX calipers?

Incidental info and complaining:

Finding the single bolt I need is a real PITA and even the dealer has to order it. I know I should've thought of this earlier, but I didn't realize it would be like sourcing a fuel cell for the lunar rover. It's supposed to be 50s Sat so I'd like to do the WRX brake swap then. I don't want to take the bolt off the old caliper to find it's a different pitch or something. Once I get started I hate to stop and pick it up again, especially when I'll be doing it on melting snow.

I would expect them to be the same (M10x1.0)... They're the same on all other modern Subaru brakes. The bolt part number is different on WRXes than on our cars, but the difference is in the head of the bolt (it takes a 12mm wrench instead of a 14mm one), not the threads.

I'll check the OEM parts catalog for you tonight; remind me if I forget.

Hmm, okay, this is interesting.

Short answer: The threading is the M10x1.0.

Long answer: Apparently there were two banjo bolt part numbers for first-generation Legacies.

Part number 112925161, which I believe is the 14mm-head M10x1.0 banjo bolt that most of us are used to seeing, was apparently specified for most cars.

But at least some of the 92-94 US-built ones had part number 26536AA000.

Part 26536AA000 has been superceded by 26536AA001. And 26536AA001 is the 12mm-head M10x1.0 bolt used on the WRX.

The threads are the same. You should be able to do the swap just fine with the old banjo bolt.

The old one is slightly shorter, but I think it will be fine.

Thanks
