Catalytic converter clogging

Here`s the problem, When i drive the first 10min, the boost goes to 9-10psi easily(everything stock, cold weather) and everything is fine. Then after a couple of miles, the boost has more difficulty to go any higher than 6-7psi at WOT.

I have only one cat, its in the downpipe, i wonder if it could be the cause, cat getting hot and jamming the airflow at the downpipe. I'm a tree hugger so i want a cat in there, but is anybody having similar problem, happy new year!

Are you using stock boost control?

There are times when the ECU decides to limit boost to wastegate pressure, which is about 6 psi. It seems to be correlated with either a failure of the boost control system to work correctly, or with detonation.

I would try a MBC out and see what the boost does with that.
I had a hard time going above factory boost befor I took the cat out but didn't notice a difference when it was hot or cold.

I can find WRX used DP's for $50 all the time. It will take some work to fit it right but it's way cheaper than a new Legacy DP from Subaru.

I already use a WRX downpipe, that why i would be surprise to have a bad cat, it`s not too old.

I'm going to install my mbc soon, and a wrx I/C if i can find the time.

Why would the engine detonate when hot only, it would do so at all temp range. It pull so hard for the first 10min, weird...
