10 psi on 2.2 = Oh My God!

10 psi on a stock 2.2 motor = serious punch.
So I finally got the custom step pulley installed AND working, all boost leaks sealed up AND a new custom idler pulley installed to get proper belt wrap on the new step pulley.
I drove it around the block to just make sure the belt wasnt going to slip, all the bolts were tight and no tools were left in the engine bay. Everything passed. So I drove down to a section of road where I could get a little boost.
Bam! 10 psi. And serious torque! I immediately turned around and drove back to the shop and poured 2 gallons of tolulene into the tank and got some premium to top it off. I was no where expecting that much boost. I thought if I was lucky I would get maybe 8 psi.
Breaking traction around corners is now something I have to be seriously aware of. If it is even close to wet all four tires break free and light up when I hit boost on fairly tight corners if I floor it. I even break traction on dry corners if I want.
I expect I have probably close to 230 chp now and I guess that I have to dyno it now as I always said I would only dyno it when I couldnt get the boost any higher!
Tommorrow I hopefully will get out with some other cars for the Jan 2nd MT Hood drive.
I will post a video on the new engine bay this week as well.

Yeah! This sounds awesome, man. I can't wait to see some new pictures and videos!
Now, to find some way to get 10psi into my stock Legacy... after I put it back together, that is. ^-^;

Nomake Wan, you should use the supercharging setup Douglas has developed! You have the necessary non-ABS setup.
But you'll only be able to make the torque break two wheels loose...

Sweet! I really want to see your car some day. A dyno sheet and some vids will do for now...

How is detonation?
You can break all 4 loose with enough entry speed too...

I'm just a bit curious... I'm assuming it's quicker than a turbo legacy otherwise stock running 10 psi....
forgive me if i'm dumb, but why? I'd imagine a supercharger would take at least a little of your engine's power to turn....

The blower probably flows a lot more air @10psi than a tiny VF10/11.

SC is more scaleable. Turbo takes engine power to run too. SC flows more at a given psi. SC isn't cooking the intake charge with exhaust heat. NA has more advanced timing and more compression. Below 2500rmp the SC pwnz jUo!

most of the heat comes from compressing the air. A supercharger will heat it up pretty high. But yeh, n/a does have quite the advantage with timing and compression and you gotta love the whine the supercharger makes.

I know you posted about an SC kit on NASIOC, with some specs and shit, but I think I'd be interested in doing this, considering I've got to take apart the engine to begin with. Any ideas on finding a --what was it you said --C230 Supercharger?-- I'm gonna start browsing EBAY now for one, but if you know a place or two to find a good used SC, let us in on it, this sounds like something VERY exciting, esp if you're hitting 10psi.
What might your kit go for? Price Breakdown?

Are you on a turbo tranny?
What kind of abuse, if any, is your transmission
getting as a result of these high boost levels?
I really hope you do a writeup as well, and I'd certainly be interested finding out more of this for MY car.
... *sigh*, gotta get a tranny first, though

I am probably pushing in the range of 220-240 crank hp, with whp in the 180 range. Or I would guess. Thats cause I had 130 stock hp, and 10 psi on a high compression engine. I lose some wheel hp due to the supercharger parasitic loss, and then drivetrain loss.
Stock NA 5mt tranny. My tranny is holding up fine and since my clutch is worn, it just slips if I try any hard starts, so the tranny and axles dont get any abuse!
But it got broke......

If you really are the 220-240 horsepower range, you're at the very far limits of what your injectors can do. Even at 100% duty cycle, four 370cc/min injectors only flow enough fuel for about 230 horsepower on a forced induction motor.

And that's assuming you're running at 43.5 psi fuel pressure. If you're still at 36.3 psi it'd be around 338cc's right?

Oh. I thought his injectors flowed 370cc/min at stock 36.3 psi fuel pressure. I dunno.

I have no clue other than they are the nissan 370 cc injectors and I am running way rich, even on boost (at least at the 5-6 psi range, havent had the chance to see if this is true in the 10 psi range)
