The supercharge wagon is alive and kicking again.

Well, the supercharged wagon lives again in the original pulley format. I never should have changed it to start with but a boost leak I didn’t catch caused me to think I needed to drastically increase the pulley speed. When I got the new stepper pulley installed, the hugely increased boost forced the small boost leak to reveal itself by splitting open the connection between the top-mounted AWIC and the throttle body. Then the boost went to 0! The leak was originally causing my boost to top out at 4 psi, when it really should have been a strong 6 psi.

And of course my botched installation of the stepper pulley screwed everything up but did teach me how to correctly install a stepper pulley in the future.

So I reinstalled everything like it originally was and this took about an hour and a half. And now since I have fixed that original boost leak, I am now pushing a strong 6 psi and I like it. While not the BANG of the 10 psi, which if activated over 4k, it was a serious punch, the 6 psi is pretty damn good. I will eventually reinstall a stepper pulley but only for about 8 psi until I build a better motor to take the added stress.

And while I may have done some damage to the left head valve train judging from the loud tapping sound that comes and goes (more coming than going), the engine runs fine, pulls hard both under boost and off boost and unless I want to pull the engine again, I will just have to wait it until something really happens.

Hopefully my next update will be how I successfully installed the new stepper pulley that a- gives me 8-10 psi and b- gives me my power steering back without overdriving versus how I broke something new!

Boost away!

Very nice. Good to hear that it's back up and running. Does it still scream like a banshee at 6psi?
