That's a pretty serious looking cage! I have considered a cage, but I want something simple with removable door bars, and keeping the rear seat.
I bought one...

I ordered mine friday with the laser cut ends. It came to the low low price of $1099.00 after the laser cut ends and shipping insurance. Should arrive in a week and i'll get some pics up a week after that when its installed.

Neat, I've always wondered what options we had as far as roll cages. I'm with Phil though in that when I put one in I don't want it being really obstrusive and I don't want to lose my backseat. Idealy I'd have it so that it was always in but allowed people in and out the back and still has a low key look to help keep sleeper status.
Do post pics when you get your's Matt. Are you installing it yourself?

A friend and I are installing it in a shop. We have access to welders and a lot of other fun stuff there.

I'd like to build one into the car's structure so that it fit behind the interior panels with minimal modification. I guess it would be less a cage and more just reinforcement The car could use the extra stiffness.

Cages are bad for street cars, mmmkayyy.
You see bars of steel aren't nice on body parts, mmmkayy.
You need properly installed harnessess and helmets at all times with a cage, mmmkayyy.

and dont put people in back w/a cage.
that would be very scary.
w/enough padding on the cage you could get by w/out a helmet all the time but you should have harness ALL the time.

Cool stuff Matt, always makes a difference when you have acess to the right tools.
Hmm... clearly my understanding of roll cages and their associated risks isn't all that great but I'm glad others know the bars (hehe get it...). I guess I'd be going the route of Steve then. I basically want some added protection in the event of getting upside down in the car (aka I don't want it to pancake) but still maintain the 'family' car so to speak. For now though it's still all pipe dreams anyhow till I'm out of school.

Hmmm... bare head still does not like padded steel bars in a bad crash. Kinda like the guy that beats your face in with a baseball bat, but claims its not assault with a deadly weapon because he padded it...

its going to be a rally car so the whole street thing and the backseat thing isn't much of a problem for me hehe. Allthough I am totally gonna drive it on the street with the helmet on and the whole 9 yards lol.

my coments were directed at the few people that wanted to use the rear seat.

Oh I just wanted to make sure no one thought I was gonna carry my friends back there...

I'd say Greg was talking to me

and I agree that most standard cages would be very detrimental to those in the back. I still think a solution could be found that will give me added protection of a cage but still allow me to safely use my backseat. I've got a few years though. If the car were completely stripped down and reinforcements could be incorporated discretely and safely. Oh well, someday....

Seam weld the chassis. My dream, but hardly ever going to be a reality.
You might be able to get away with one loop bar that came up the b pillar and across the roof and down the other side. Then this could be enclosed so law enforcement wouldn't see... and you get the rollover protection. The seam welding would provide the extra stiffness.
