Most engines will. Is it a good idea without building the engine up a bit and having proper supporting mods? Proably not. I'd say your pretty safe with running 5-6PSI on it.

Buy the AVO kit from Rallitek.com. 6 psi of boost yields something like 250-270 chp.

It can, and has, been done.

You could always swap an EJ257 into the car, that would be fun!

considering the number of 2.5 engines that blow the head gaskets all by themselves, isn't it a little optimistic to turbocharge and expect reliability ???

Professor - I know lots of 2.5 RS-T guys out there, that have been doing it for a while.

And apparently, the phase 2 SOHC 2.5's have less frequent headgasket issues.

Unfortunately, the 99s are the phase 1s. I don't buy that BS about a phase 1.5 design either. Cobb even admitted that the phase 1 and 2 engines were indistinguishable by the "block ridges" originally speculated to be the "marks" of a phase 2 block.

Furthermore the phase 2 engines have been suffering a similar demise as the phase 1s... instead of an internal HG leak they tend to have an external leak.

I personally would not go through all of the trouble putting together a turbo kit for a 2.5L n/a motor.

Swap a ej20 in there an be done with it (or STi engine, if so monetarily blessed).

Phase1 = DOHC, right? Phase2 = SOHC?

My friends 99 Impreza RS has an SOHC EJ25...

Find a WRX owner who's car was totaled, and see if you can buy the engine and tranny from it.

It should have a SOHC EJ25... I wouldn't stress an EJ25 anymore than it already is. It's a stretched engine design. It wasn't meant to have more power than it already makes.
