Okay guys, please don't give me the ol' search for it because I did already. :D I'm thinking of doing an engine swap and I found an 03 WRX engine for sale with the ecu but no harness? Is it possible that this will even work in my car? Will it bolt to my tranny? Mine is an auto with 4.11 listed on the rear diff. If it will work, where can I get a harness and crossmember. Should I get another tranny? Keep in mind I have yet to see a WRX in a jy around here. Can I have a harness made? I'm a noob when it come to this. Can we get something stickied like a general parts list when doing a swap or it it too broad? Do we already have something like this and I just missed it? Thanks.

One of the guys at Rallitek installed a older jdm 2 liter into a turbo leg, it runs really good, and they did all the wiring themselves.
I dont know if it came witha harness or not, or if theres anyway to use your old one.
Another way to go could be to use your own 2.2 closed deck short block with the intake man/heads from the wrx. the larger block would probably give you more hp and tq than just the engine swap alone.

You could drive north to go see them or give em a call, Sean or Brydon are both super knowledgable.

If it's going into his LSi, I don't think the n/a 2.2 is closed deck.

It will bolt up to your tranny. All EJ series motors (and the EZ30) will bolt up to all recent transmissions.

The crossmember can be sourced from a WRX or an early Legacy Turbo. If you look around, you may be able to find someone with one for sale here on the boards.

You could direct-wire and build your harness. If you have the WRX FSM, I think you could peice it all together and get her to run.

That would be a cool swap! You should do it!

Thanks for the replies. I really want to do it but things are very hectic right now. I'm sorta in the process of moving to Vegas and trying to get a place to live out there. I think it would be pretty sweet if I could get it done though...and I'd keep my car a while longer. :D

I know one existing turbo legacy swapped with a 2002 wrx eng and tranny.

BUT YOU HAVE TO SWAPPED THE WHOLE DASH TOO, but everything is bolt on, once you trimmed the dash. And you definetly need the harness if time is an issue.

the fun part is that the car is an 91 with a lot of body work to be done, rusty. the perfect sleeper, very impressive......

Yes, it fits, but you need a good bit of triming at each end. And you need to be creative with the mounting point.
It really looks good, compare to the stock dash. The one i saw used the airbag holes( They usually are blown up) to fit gauges and a terratrip.

I don't remember about the center console, but i think it was there too. Fitting the dash is the hard part of the swap, but the rest is quite easy if you have the wiring harness( don't try without it)

hmm that's awesome. I wonder if a different impreza one would fit. Like a first gen.
