It looks as if i'm getting under 20mpg in my 92 legacy. I'm gonna check the air filter to see if its dirty. Are there any other things i could check? How do i check to see if i'm pulling any codes? The car idles very smoothly so i doubt there are any vacuum leaks. Thanks

If it's a turbo then that's about average.

If you were pulling code then your check engine light would be on.

Have you figured out the mileage exactly? Head conversions are rarely correct. Fillup, reset trip, drive, then fillup again. Divide miles driven on the trip by the amount of gallons put into the tank.

Estimating and comparing how much you get per tank or any other way of guesstimating the mileage doesn't work.

And the most common solution is just checking your right foot

I've been getting around 15mpg. Still wouldn't trade it for a hybrid car though.

well i've almost empty and i' have yet to brake 300 miles. The tank is 15.9 gallons. Thats pretty crappy mileage if you ask me. I thought these things were suppose to get 30 mpg on the highway.

I consitantly get around 16MPG with a fulltank. I go about 250-270miles before I have to fill up again.

They are boats IMO. I think their dry weight is about 3000+ lbs.

A couple things that can effect mileage are the O2 sensor, plugs, wires, ect..

If you're going by the gauge to estimate your mileage you should know that it will show empty when it is about 11 or 12 gallons down. I usually get about 300 to 350 miles per tank (according to the gauge). It takes about 12 gallons to fill up the tank most of the time, sometimes a little more or a little less. I figure that I'm getting between 25 and 30 miles per gallon, depending on the amount of highway driving versus city driving. If you do as Brat4by4 says you may find you’re getting better mileage than you think.
