im takin out my tranny, and i got the spring pin out of the axle with the brakes off and i thought there would be enough play to let the axle out without takin the tie rod off, and the other stuff off. These axles were just replaced about 200 miles ago before the tranny went by a shop but there is no sign of them taking off any other stuff to get this one in or to take the old one out, is there any way to get it out without having to take apart the other shtuff, any advice is help. thanks

I think it's just the bolts to the strut and the axle pin. I did this like a few weeks ago and it required that I get a pry bar and push my brake assembely down far enough to slip the axle out.

If your motor/tranny mounts are really worn you might be able to push the engine and transmission over far enough to just pull out the axles, but it's more likely you'll have to remove something.

I do what J-MoNeY suggests -- disconnect the strut from the hub. It's just those two big 19mm-head nut-and-bolt pairs. Just be sure to mark the position of the upper bolt before you undo it, since its position controls the camber alignment.

I think undoing the bolt that holds the ball joint to the hub is the easiest way, if they've ever been apart before. No messing with the alignment. Its a 14mm bolt, and then you use a big pry bar to separate the 2.

I've only seen one bolt shear, so that's probably the only reason to not do it that way.
