How close do your rears come to your struts?

Hi everyone, so after the offset problem I had earlier, I sourced some great 03 WRX wheels with the RE92s (which will soon be traded for Kumho ECSTAs) for a few bones. Put the WRX wheels on during an alignment today, and the fronts seems fine, but the back tires come awful close to the struts and spring seat.. not rubbing, but less than a finger-width distance. Think it will be okay? The tires are 205/55/16s, up from my 185/75/14 snowflakes.. should I shop for some 50/16s? wheel spacers? Thanks.

They are fine. As long as they aren't touching, they are fine.
I'm running WRX wheels, along with tons of others, and no one seems to have any problems.

when you buy new tires, you might want to get some that match the stock diameter more closely.

so is the 205/50/16 size closer to the original 185/75/14? I forget what the rule of it all is..

205/50/16 -> 205mm tire width, sidewall height = 205*.50 mm, 16 in diameter. So you have about a half inch change in diameter or around 3.6 inch change in circumference. You're within a few mph, nothing to worry about in my opinion.

^^ Haha, I still have that bookmarked! It comes in handy when someone's asking questions about wheels/tires..

according to the miatabot, 205/55 is as close to stock size as I'm going to get. Thanks everyone.. my worries have subsided.. and now its on to wasting money on other things. Why can't I just let this poor car be? Or at least I should fix the headliner and body panels.. but nooo here I go spending money on magnecor wires, stainless line.. la de da. when will there be an end?

I thought stock was 185/70-14, in which case 205/50-16 is the closest you can get. In anycase, I've got 205/55s, and there's room. Although, I can barely get my index finger between the strut and tire.

Isn't it disgusting? I enjoy driving my car as it is, so why can't I leave it alone? I go to the grocery store and put down cookies as a waste of money I don't want to spend, but if something happens with the car the CC comes out to drop a few hundred without a second thought. I'm even not making any moves on this girl I'm interested in as I'd rather spend money on the car than on taking her out. And she's awesome. I think I need professional help.

There
is no end. It's a sickness that many of us here are afflicted with. Maybe we need a support group.
"Hi my name is Matt and I have a problem. I haven't spent money on my car for four days now though and I think things are starting to turn around for me...."

we should start a poll to see who has dug the biggest hole for their suby. mind you, its a testament to how fun and easy to work on these cars are that we are happy to just pile money into a 10-15 year old car like we seem to.. so its not a judgement against what kind of people we are.. but I think its fair to call this an affliction of some sort.

I'm pretty high up there on the money spent scale.
Steve - You do have a problem. Welcome to the club.

I'm getting marginally better. I don't think of driving when I'm with this girl, unlike the other 20 or so girls I've dated since my ex. Baby steps.

I went almost 5 years only paying for gas and maintenance for my car. All of a sudden I've spent about grand in like 3 months on stuff I don't "need." I blame it on all of you.

I hardly spent any money on my GLs (of course there was little I could do with them anyway).
