So, if the 10-12 hp gain is for real, $120 isn't so bad.. but is the crank pulley off an impreza the same size as off a legacy, as off a wrx? The site that has them for $116 seems to be offering them for the WRX, and I dont want to buy something that won't fit.

You won't get 10-12hp, anyone who has a lightweight and/or underdriven pulley can tell you that. It does improve engine response, and may free up some horsepower in first and second gear.

All EJ-engine Subarus have the same pulleys, same size, etc...so it should work. I've had two UOR pulleys, and just installed a Cobb Power Pulley on my 00 GT.

Well, mostly I'm trying to eliminate a power gap early on in second, doing the grounding thing next weekend.. and specifically, by engine response do you just mean that i'm going to be constantly reminded that a 120hp n/a engine is not the 200hp engine of my gone-but-not-forgotten vr6 gti? :)

It feels a little snappier before you get into boost.

He has no boost :)

Ground mod will help. A lightweight pulley will have a very slight effect on how fast the engine revs, probably more noticeable in the low revs and in 1st and 2nd gear, where the mass makes the most difference.

well then.. I guess that puts me $120 closer to that WRX or R.32 i've been dreaming about. :)

"grounding mod" is crap - it's just a band aid for people who have bad grounds to begin with. didn't someone post up which specific sensors could use additional grounds?

well, right.. and i think i have pretty poor grounds. just poking around the engine bay with a multimeter shows me that. I didn't mean I was buying a $110 kit for it.. I got some 6 and 10 ga stranded wire, some heat resistant loom, and some crimp on ring ends. I was figuring one big 6ga to the engine block, one to the starter, another to the fender well, and a couple 10ga grounds to wherever there's a mount-grounded sensor.

lol. i missed he has a naturally aspirated car, If your gonna do something lightweight, replace the flywheel with a lightweight one or buy yourself a can of nitrous.
