Well i kinda have already done this and this same style of posting at Http://www.tristateneons.2gn.org ..... and i gotta say i didn't know it'd look exactly the same.... anyway my names terry and i live i nashville, indiana i don't smoke but i'm posting in an ashtray so whatever, i'm buying a 93 subaru legacy 2wd AT with like 200000 miles on it.... for a good price i'd say... anyway it'll be my daily driver until i decide to treat it like the neon and fix it up, the paint is gunmetal gray and i haven't seen the car in person yet so i'll wait before i say something wrong.... my previous car was a 1996 dodge neon named "neener"
( http://www.cardomain.com/id/neener101 )which died not too long ago... so now in the paper there's the legacy and i'm buying it... i'll upload some pix and buy a haynes manual (again) so maybe i'll learn some stuff about it in the end.... and by the way i forgot to ask phil.... why is the alternator in the front and on top? all the other cars i've worked on have it tucked away.... now if i need to replace it i'll just reach in like the battery... i look forward to doing some under the hood stuff but i really need some rims and wrx stuff would be nice too, anybody know how to drop it down but not too low? TTYL! see you in the posts!

A) Welcome. Yay.
B) Paraphraph structure - learn it, use it, love it.
C)
anybody know how to drop it down but not too low?
Yes. search.

A shining example of why I hate "introduction" posts.

ahaha, burn.

My first car was a 95 Neon Highline, first gen. Man, did that car suck. Glad I t-boned an '89 accord with it. :D
You've made the right choice, my friend, Subaru is the way to go.
You were mentioning that the alternator is on top --this engine puts everything that needs to be looked at, fixed, replaced, or whatever right in front of you --no need to dig for it. How cool is that?
Because your legacy is only 2wd, you're gonna have a harder time doing mods, esp when it comes to suspension, as the rear axle, etc isnt' the same as the 4wd ones.
Check your local Les Schwab or something, if you want to just lower it.(just springs, right?) If you'd rather something more performance oriented, try Prodrive, or Whitelines. Both can be had at:
www.boxer4racing.com
Meanwhile, your car has 200k on it. That's still within the range of a driveable scooby, but it's up there. Treat your engine with care, please. Do a quick tune-up with new plugs, wires, filters, and probably brakes.
Get back to us again when you've got the car --we'd love to see pics!
Welcome, again.

We are like a car cult here. You never own a Subaru...the Subaru owns you. You will spend waking hours thinking of ways to make your car different. You will tweak it for many more hours. You will become a know-it-all when it comes to Subaru Legacys. You will see something wrong with an ad for a used Subaru and then proceed to call the owner and make him feel stupid. You will have an interest in rally cars..You will purchase Subau clothes and hats. You will drive down the highways and bi-ways and yell "subaru" when you pass one...or it passes you.

WELCOME ABOARD!!

He's fuckin' nuts, but he's right, we all are. I'm completely-alford-pleading-stark-raving-guil-diddly-ilty. It's a certified mania, really.
..there's no cure, or hopeful prognosis, save boost itself.

when you see it, be sure to check the cv boots and shift quality of the at. Other than that, there are no major quirks. The belts and alt and whatnot are in front because its a longitundally mounted engine.

id encourage you to drive the car a fair while before you decide to dump a pile of scrill on it with wrx takeoff- itd suck to discover it has some significant issue after youve spent all your change on goodies. As for goodies, shocks are the first thing to do. Theres a way to lower the car with just using the right shocks, find it, but be warned that lowering the car harms handling. If you know phil, you're off to a good start.

A +35hp racing chip on a neon? hahahahaah.... hahaha

That's a great point. Listen to Scott. Make sure it's not a pile of shit before you dump cash on it.

Yea, you can lower the car for looks pretty easily and cheaply. You can also lower it for performance, but that's more expensive and has tradeoffs to cover things that aren't as easily or cheaply solved (stiffer spring rates to counter increased body-roll leverage).

GT4, yo.
