Take what's in that thread and extrapolate -- no thermostat is kind of like a -460 degree thermostat.

Personal experience on this one:( no thermostat in winter is REALLY BAD!)
Middle of winter, 20 degrees, I-90 crusing through Montana. My thermostat has somehow locked open. Lets just say my temp gauge never got above 140. At 70 mph, I was forced to wear a Jacket and sweater because the car never got warm.
IN the Sahara desert, no thermostat might be good, everywhere else would be bad.

Yeah, there's a reason for it. If yours fails closed, then pulling it out is a good way to get you home or drive a few days until you get a chance to replace it, but that's about it.

I live in florida. It is not cold here. I guess I just want to know if it is bad for the engine.

Yes, it is, for the reasons outlined in the lower-temp-thermostat thread. Unless you have some ghastly problem with your cooling system, your car will certainly be better off with a thermostat.

I ran my bunny without a thermostat in LA. Was fine. Id cover up half the rediator with a peice of cardboard if I ran up to the mountians. I also had seperate oil and water temp gauges, and payed attention to them.
Dont see the point in a subie though. Our cooling system rocks. Remember, the larger difference in oil, and water temps, the more likely you are to crack the heads n stuff.
