Ok, so recently my subie has been losing power at higher speeds. I.E. Cruising at 70 mph, the car will begin to lose speed reguardless of how much more I roll on the throttle and in some instances, the revs will rise, but the power continues to bleed off. It happens off and on, sometimes going several weeks before happening again. Also, only occurrs early in the drive. Any ideas????

Your clutch is worn out and slipping. You will eventually lose 4th, 3rd and soforth. Replace that biznitch.

Does the engine sputter or miss......or is it just a loss of speed?

Nope. Just a loss of speed. And it's an automatic, not a manual. I don't think it's the clutch because the issue is so intermittent.

hmmm, have you checked/replaced the AT fluid?
I'd probably start there.

Yep. It's done. Did that and replaced the front diff gear oil. Could it be the band on the tranny? I was thinking it only applied to 2nd gear. (now let's move this thread to transmission!

Hmm.....I'm not really sure what's going on.
The band shouldn't really cause this.
sorry about the moving around of your thread.

Oh, no worries. I see that this is a better spot to get my questions answered. I heard back from the technical trainer for Subaru. He sais he's fairly sure it's the high clutch. Yippee. No to pricey, but the labour.. yeee ouch!!
