Poor Reverse Clutch? somethings broken

Not too sure what's going on, but here's what happened. The legacy ('93 turbo 4eat) got snowed into it's parking spot the other day, a good 6-8inches.. soo put it in reverse and tried to back out. wheels were spinning for a while than stopped and the engine revved! .. gave it a little more gas (up towards 5k rpm) and than little bit of tire spin and nothing... with it in Reverse! gave it gas to 7k and absolutely nothing, but the stench of burnt clutch... drive gears work great, so i ended up driving through my front lawn to get off my driveway

I pulled all the codes.. nothing outta the ordinary (purge solenoid, overboost, and speed sensor [which was a previous code, nothing in the current]) all my fluids are good and peaked off.

Also noticed reverse works okay if the car or atf is cold. It definetly smells of burnt clutch when it gives.. i looked this up and i hope this isn't the end of my transmission :x it may be an excuse for a MT, but i really have no funds for it right now.. Will i eventually lose all my gears with this gremlin?

I dont quite remember how exactly the auto works, but I remember there are bands, kinda like clutches, that keep certian gears from spinning. IIRC, those bands have external adjustments. But I might be thinking of something else, and those bands might not actually do anything about reverse.

Come to think of it, Im probably not the right person to awnser this.

Carry on folks,

nothin to see here.
