after spending most of saturday and all sunday with Matt swapping out my bad auto tranny for the used one, I have to honestly say that the tranny is winning- I have bumps, bruises, and cuts all over. Feels like I was in a fight that lasted all rounds. --I am in pain. I never thought it would be this BRUTAL of a BATTLE.

I just hope it all works out when done. The Subie dealers must have special equipment for removing/installing the Auto, cause I can't see mechanics at a Subie shop going throuh what we have. Course, everything on my engine was and still is really dirty, almost as dirty as me. I actaully didn't even look white before I stepped in the shower. My dog about bit me when I got home cause i was so dirty he didn''t recognize me, and the smell of ATF really threw him off.

You thought ATF was bad.. get into some gear oil.. shit sticks to your hand worse than pussy juice. It doesn't wash off, you have to wear it off.
Yes, these things are HEAVY. I went thru quite the battle with mine, and believe me, the right jack makes ALL the difference. Invest in a good little tranny jack, or something, it makes things TONS easier.

Oh, and check your tranny mounts, they're probably due for replacement, I know mine are.

Yeah....I can't stand gear oil. brake fluid is a not-too-distant second.

It's like a bad swamp smell, like there's a few bodies just under the surface, bubbling in filth.
