I was just wondering if this would fit my 1990 N/A Legacy without much trouble and if it seems like a decent deal. ALso wondering if it would really help with my cars handling.

Thanks,
Fireytom

I'd just get a set of KYB GR2's for your car if it were me.

I'm definitely not the suspension guru of the board so someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I AFAIK they bolt up but the ride height and spring rate are different. IIRC those would drop your rear about .75" or 1.5", something like that but I can't recall exactly.

If you do a simple quick search you will find all your answers.

Yes, this is exactly what I did on my car, except mine was the SPT stiffer version of the USDM STi suspension.

It will not drop your car. It will sit at stock height like you have a brand new suspension (which means it might lift a little if your old stuff sags).

That is one heck of a deal on that set! The only thing you would need to change is the rear top hats. For those you will need to buy BC6 or GC rear strut tops. 92-99? somewhere around there, any Legacy or Impreza rear strut tops would work.

Matt, these are cheaper than AGX's..... If anyone is looking for a sweet suspension without slamming the car, they should snap these up. But fireytom has dibs :). With my current suspension setup at the track, my instructor was having fun as we passed up all the Porsches (he was a hoot). But he also mentioned I have like some sort of advantage with my suspension  . I guess the convo would help, it went something like this "You car is really sleeper and people can't tell all the work you have done to it". I say "I only have exhaust and a flywheel...", then he say "no, I'm talking about the suspension".

Oh right, because he would be swapping over the entire setup and not just the strut, right?

That's true but they're not cheaper then GR2's which is what I said. ;)

But ya, I wasn't thinking about the whole setup and the fact that ride height would be ok that way. Newer struts, newer springs and newer top mounts, it's a pretty good deal. :)

I wonder, then, if WRX wagon suspension would be a good upgrade for the Legacy wagon. I wouldn't want the sedan suspension on the wagon.

Hey, I've got three of those sitting in my room. Still waiting on a UPS claim.

I think WRX wagon springs are still too soft in the rear for a legacy wagon.

Also, it looks like I'll have to use my rear spring perches with the STi struts/springs. It seems like the topmount and spring perch are the same piece on the STi struts. Or do they come apart, so I can just put the GC group N mounts I have on the spring perches? I'm waiting until I have all four to take them apart.

Wrx wagon springs would suit a sedan. STi perches might have a larger center hole for the top nut that holds the perch to the strut. William or Art would be able to say for certain.

On a 90 legacy, the front perches must be replaced as well with 92-up bits.

From my non-thorough research, the only uprated springs suitable for a legacy are the Whiteline buggers. Legacy wagons have very stiff rears, and as this could be a result of geometry, don't assume that a comparable f/r weighted subaru will have correct springs. The way to uprate is by a % increase, imho.

I might just be shooting my mouth off and not providing anything helpful! 8)

Mine didn't come with the top mounts. I just got the upper spring perches from the dealer, they are only 1500 pennies or so....

Ah, alright. So the GC perches fit right on the STi springs?

On the STi, the rear top mount and spring perch seem to all be the same piece. So, I'm using GC group N tops, and I need some spring perches for them. Here are some pictures I took of one of my rear struts.

Yeah, that's nice. I just wish I had all four
