What's Happening?

Okay, remember when I said this board was similar to a sociology experiment?
Something's going on with our group dynamics. It seems there's a fair bit of infighting going on, and, while I'm very much guilty of it, I'm not saying I enjoy it in its entirety.
So what's up? Are we all cranky? Do the newbs need to quit asking stupid questions? Should we search more?
I'm really sorry, guys. I know I'm just as guilty as a few others (won't name names, that's not right, either) of inciting people into adverse text-based emotions, but.. I'll try to tone it down. We used to be very laid-back and friendly, and I can't help but feel like I've disrupted our vibe, just a tad bit. Again, I feel terrible.

So.. Can I create another bonding thread where we all apologize, and spread our textual feelings of brotherly(and sometimes sisterly  ) love all over the screen?
What can I do? Really, I love all of you, each and every one of you --even the members with >1 post, who've been too scared to introduce themselves, for fear that the 'intarweb people' will insult, defile, or criticize them.
Will I still make jabs at y'all? Of course! ...but they're just jabs, people.
I'm not sure what to do about this, really.. I mean, I know the board has to evolve, but... sometimes change scares me, ya know?

Like a wise man once said, "move, adapt, or die."

Those are our options. I put up with your crap and everyone elses for that matter. I still have love for you though.

YOU'RE MY BOY BLUE!!! Now tie this rope around your unit and throw this block off the balcony.

I had a dentist visit today. It made me unhappy.

I think I figured it out.. J-MoNeYs and corsairs replies are answers to "what's up?"
J- I COMPLETELY understand. I know when my bottle of apple juice disappears, I am one upset little boy.
corsair- I know, I know.. Someone poking around my mouth doesn't excite me either, but trust me, it's for the best. Just like you escaped Papa John's, you'll escape cavities, too. Brush regularly, using the correct motions, (ask me and I'll help you :D ) floss when you think about it, and your teeth should still look like they belong in your mouth. Ask Martha, she's got a nifty needle-nose pliers trick that pops out those abcessed teeth faster than you can say Everlasting Gobstopper.

This place is my home and I socialize more here than I do with kids in class. The bbs keeps me going and I consider most of you friends (sorry, newbs and lurkers, you gotta introduce yourself first ;)) and if I take comfort in knowing that if I needed to vent or needed some support I know where I can turn.
I think right now we're experiencing an influx in new members and new posts asking the same questions, this in conjunction with little tiny things in our personal lives maybe have put some of us on a slight edge?
Either way, fact remains, we're all just one big happy family and occasionally brothers and sisters bicker but we should try to keep it in a respectful and non-personal manner. Maybe if we used more smilies :) to help denote sarcasm or to distinguish between a friendly poke and a dick comment.
I guess that's all the little I had to say. I'm passing the virtual J to the left and going to the creek on this beautiful day.

Ex-treme. You going to the creek to fish, or a 'nature walk'? Yes, it's stopped raining briefly here, so there's the nice sun behind our usual grey clouds.
Kinda representative of us, right now.. the grey clouds are what's apparent, but there's always blue skies and a brighter day underneath, right?

awww... who wants a hug? C'mon, get in here!

I go for short hikes sometimes or like today, just drive out and just spend time skipping rocks and playing around. I don't get to camp or backpack as much as I'd like but it still feels good just to get away and re-center.

I'm in for the hug, is Laurel around?

It's the natural cycle of the internet forum. Some take longer to complete the cycle, some go real quick. Eventually the vets will leave, and the noobs will make it into a horrible place to be. It's the cycle. Can't escape it.

Wow, I am impressed, do you have a degree or something? 8)
Once I escaped PJ's I kinda fell into an abyss because my friends had already ostracized me and I had nothing to take up that time in my life. So I basically rediscovered Legacy Central, yay.

You don't need them.
You BELONG here, at LCO, which will now be re-dubbed:
Legacy Cult O.
( I couldn't think of anything for the O, sorry. )

I wish I had a degree.. all the losers went to college, and they 1) don't even want to be there, and 2) take up space when they shouldn't be there.
Our goddamn parents, teachers, and educators have pushed, and pushed, and pushed for all of us to go to college, get higher education.. What they(parents, teachers, etc.) don't realize, is that some people just aren't cut out for higher education. Some people aren't even READY yet, either. Guys like me.. well, I wasn't ready for college when I got out of HS, I needed time. What now? Well.. I gotta work, and now I gotta choose -- +$$ or school. (which is basically -$$)
I hate choosing. Maybe I should goto college and learn to think my way out of situations like this, just so I never have to be in them again.
...yeah, right.
So what have we got? TONS of kids/underemployed blue collar in the colleges, and training institutes. What does that mean? It means truly intelligent people, not dissimilar from myself, and many of you all, are left out in the rain, 'uneducated'.
Who feel me? C'mon, sing it!

Notice my sudden lack of posts as of late. I think the ashtray is the only place thats really changed the rest of the site remains helpful.

I agree, going to art school I see kids all the time that are just there cause they did a little doodle in high school and put no effort into things, there just wasting their money and time.

I did notice that, and wondered where you went.

I don't know what is causing it but I don't like it. People need to chill.

The whole search thing is getting old too. All it takes is either a friendly "please search" or here's a concept, ignore the damn thread! If you don't want to answer the question then don't but don't be an ass to the person asking the question either, especially if it's a new member. This isn't NASIOC. That's my opinion anyways.

Back to the original issue:
I don't want to point fingers but there seems to be one "newer" member in particular that gets a lot blood boiling around here and my advice is to just stop posting in that members threads and ignore them if they bother you, instead of picking fights, making crappy comments and insighting further reactions from all sides. Let the thread die, don't read it, just stay the F#$K away from it. It's easy to do, just try it.

When said member comes into another members threads and starts something then it becomes more difficult to ignore but we're smart, strong willed people, I bet you can do it! I have faith in you, just give it a try people.

Ya, sorry guys. Didn't mean to start up a bunch of drama n stuff, but I just couldn't keep my mouth shut.

This is like a sacred little void in the interworld, where for the most part, the yahoo's stay clear. I really like that about this place.

When he started sending me threatining PMs, I acted.

But hes gone now, thus so is my problem.

Carry on.

I'm with Matt 100% on this. I hope this is the end of it. I admit it was amusing at times, but though I'm a somewhat confrontational person by nature I tried not to contribute to an increasingly negative atmosphere (how's that, Tresha, honey? No more negativity! You can take me back now! Hey, where're you going? :) ) and stayed out or offered constructive information. I like that we're not PC here, but that doesn't mean we have to be a-holes. One post or two, whatever, but when the guy keeps going it's obvious he wants attention, so don't feed it.

and legacy central continues on with life

I guess I can use 'us' and 'we' now since I've post whored my way up to "Genuinely Interested" right?

The thread with another new member got pretty crazy before said member could post again but it wasn't really that bad, I guess it is the ashtray after all right?

That was my fault, I let my bipolarity take control of the keyboard, I'm sorry.
For some reason, I like to be the guy that welcomes someone to LCO.. it's like taking internet virginity, or something.
