I'm a Moron, Please help with my 4.44 Tranny-3.9 Rear diff

So I offically used every curse word in the book tonight when I fired up the car(finally, with an atmoshpheric pressure sensor code,) Anyway, I put it into first gear and got out to check on things, the front hubs were spinning very quick, I looked to the back and they were moving noticably slower, So, I think I've got a tranny with a 4.44 and a rear LSD that is 3.9 DAMN. I need to change the rear diff, right? were their any other gear ratios I should be aware of? I think a diff from a 99 rs would work right?, anyone want a 3.9 LSD?
Thanks for the responce

If I am correct the Rs rear dif is 4.11, so even that will not help. You might look on the tranny to see what you have. If you need a 4.44 rear diff, you are going to have to do some searching as they are rare compared to the 4.11 and 3.90 rears.

If the fronts were spinning faster than the rears wouldnt you have a lower geard diff in the rear than the front? 4.44 front diff would spin the wheels slower than a 3.9 diff in the rear.

The forester xt has a 4.44 final drive ratio.

Ok so a the rsliberty guys seem to agree it's a 4.11, so All I need to do is get a N/A rear diff with 4.11 and drop in the LSD portion of my 3.9 Diff, Is this something I can do myself with hand tools, or should I go to a tranny shop?
Thanks

4.444 isn't all that rare, all the auto RS's and all auto foresters have it, plus many other models
If the front wheels were spinning faster than the rear wheels the front axle ratio would be higher than the rear axle ratio. Think about a transmission, 1st gear is higher than the rest right, and that moves you much quicker than any other gears.
What is the transmission code on the tranny itself?
All the NA MT's from 90-94 are 4.111, the 90-91 NA AT's are 4.111 aswell.

No, 206er was right on this one. If the front wheels are spinning faster, then they must be on a numericaly lower (taller) gear than the rear. The higher the gear multiplyer the slower the tire turns and the more torque the gear produces.
First gear is numbericaly higher than all the rest, so it produces more torque than all the other gears, but you move slowest in 1st gear, hence the faster you want to go, the higher the hear you shift into

Yes you can change out the gears in the rear diff with hand tools. BUT you have to set the gear mesh, something I would let a pro do because you won't have the tools for it and it's a huge PITA.
I would not bother with it, it's not worth the money. You should be able to sell the 3:90 LSD for about what a 4:11 LSD will cost.

Problem Solved, the horshoe fairys must visited my house last night and planted one on me. A buddy of mine who does impreza swaps just happened to have a 4.11 LSD and was looking for a 3.9 LSD, one quick drive from work later and we were both happy with the trade, I ended up with a 4.11 out of a 99 RS.
I'll put it in this weekend and be off to the races, that is if I can get the Biatch restarted that is.
