I would vote but I've only ever had two clutches replaced since I've owned a car and both were replaced by my mechanic so I don't really have much expertise on clutch selection.

Edit : I voted for Excedy so that I could see the results of the poll.

You drove my car, Matt. I have the Exedy Stage1.

Do NOT get a puck-clutch. You'll want to kill yourself after driving one in traffic.

Hmmm, Exedy is really getting the nod. You guys are killing me though. The Exedy stage-1 is around $100 more then the ACT. Does everyone really dislike ACT or what? Are they good?

Phil- Why? Do you really think it'll be that big a difference? The 6 puck is supposed to be a 30% increase in clutch feel. That doesn't seem too bad. I actually like a really stiff clutch, I think our OEM clutch feel is pretty loose.

Never tried ACT or known anyone who has. My friend has the ceramic clutch in his 3000gt and really likes it even tho its overkill for his n/a power.

It's not stiff feel, it's lack of the ability to slip the clutch.

I hear bad things about ACT. I was in a similar situation as you, and I just decided to go with the Exedy. FAR to many good stories to turn it down.

<--voted for Exedy to see results, and because they're the only ones I've heard consistent good reviews about.

Fascinating how much of the poll went this way :)

I liked my SPEC stage II and I have seen them put up with a lot of abuse.

I will also say don't get some unsprung six puck. I don't think they are real hard to use, just a pain to have to think about all the time.

FWIW though, a local is running 11.8@121.6 on a stock WRX tranny with a ACT 6-puck and a stock WRX pressure plate.
