best place to buy rotors?

I am in need of some rear rotors for the SS.
I have worn down a set of pads in under 15k down to the bare metal and I have a roasted rear rotor. It's time for brakes all around anyhow, so I am looking for rear rotors.
I figure I'll just get some e-bay slotted rotors up front but no one sells rear vented rotors

sadly,i just went with napa ones, as I too had a hard time finding performance options for rear rotors

Yea, but those were 88 bucks each through my local napa. WAY to much IMO.
But I might actually need OEM 05 LGT rotors, so I need to know where to find those...

The ones on ebay don't look too bad. But you always worry about what your getting.

But they aren't for the SS rears

.
I installed some fake powerslot rotors on my buddies 99RS today with some Axxis Ultimate pads, and WRX front brackets. The thing stops on a DIME now, so I'm actually pretty impressed with them. I wouldn't mind having those as my fronts because they are pretty cheap and worked really well for us today.

Doesn't it stop better because of the pads and not the rotors?

The front brake upsize also likely helped, and considering his rotors were just below OEM clearances, the new rotors didn't hurt.
The transformation in braking was totally night and day between what he had before, and what he has now.

Okay, but the reason it stops well isn't because of the rotors right?

The powerslots not only vent the gases from the brakes but also kinda act as a razor. It gives the pads a little extra grip on the rotor. It'll probably go through brake pads a little faster.

http://www.all-foreign.com/ has Bradi OEM-replacement rotors for about 40 bucks each.

IIRC I got my rears at
www.drivewire.com . They'll be Mountain too.
You can also try
www.buybrakes.com .

The slotting really isn't going to do shit to improve your braking.
Phil with how you go through brakes, I'd suggest getting some inexpensive rotors, and having them cryo-treated, or buy some from a a place that has already cryo-treated them.

I really do seem to go through brakes rather quickly. Damn my aggressive backroads driving!
I need something track worthy. The Legacy is to be prepped for track days this coming fall.
Josh, with your rear rotors, did you replace the backing plate, or did you just not use it at all? What concerns will I have with not using a backing plate, or using a backing plate to small for the rotor? Probably no problems other than my wheels no longer fitting.
What are good places to have things cryotreated?
Hopefully my new setup will work out, and I'll have a car that will be taking FULL advantage of the traction available to a 225/45/17 Falken Azenis RT215.

I had my rotors treated at Alpine Cryogenics in Moosic, PA. They certainly seem to have withstood the abuse of Axxis Ultimates better than most I've seen. I think they charged me $30 a disc or something, plus shipping. If I had thought ahead I would have had the discs shipped straight to them when I ordered 'em, but I forgot and had to drop them off myself.

I'll probably be running Bobcats on the street, and Panther Plus's on the track.

I just chiseled off the dust shield and ground down the rivets.
I don't think you'll have any issues without running the shield. I think the main thing it does is help keep rocks and shit from getting in behind the rotor. I haven't had any issues with mine.
here's pics

I had my rotors cryo-treated at
www.onecryo.com It's 25 a rotor. It may be cheaper use the PA place though.....all depends on shipping.

$20 a rotor for our vented ones.
I found them while doing a project on Deep Cryogenic Tempering.

I ended up taking the dust sheild off mine because it was late and I was ancy about putting on my new upgraded brakes and like an idiot was thinking my new rotors were bigger. I knew better..., but I haven't had any problems with them removed and I've hit more than a couple back gravel roads since. I wouldn't worry about the shields but I would definately cyrotreat your rotors. There's a route that requires a 100-30 before a 90 degree left and immediate 90 right followed by several other hard braking turns and I've yet to feel any fade.

Maybe just because Bradi rotors are cheaper than most other brands?
http://www.surrealmirage.com/subaru/mod.html#braking
Josh says he felt like his Bradi rotors were very slightly out of true in the drum portion.

They were ok rotors.....the issues with the out of roundness could have happened due to shipment or whatever.....
I still like OEM rotors better.
