I have a Legacy L (read: no adjustable seats) is there a way i can bring the sitting height down? Bein the monster that i am, i'd really like to get my head away from my visor.
I was contemplating different brackets or just cutting down the foam and reattaching the covering, but i didnt want to get too hasty without guidance. I'd really like to keep my stock seats too, they're comfy and in good condition.
thanks!

Sparco race seats with brackets from Speedware. . . . at least a 2" drop in seating position.

wrx seats raise the seat height. Sparcos would look silly in my basically stock legacy, plus they're more money than i really want to spend.
what is involved in chopping and drilling the factory brackets?

Hmmm. . .indeed. . . this will have to be done to Laurel's WRX seats that are going in.
Autocross means helmet must be worn, and Laurel's not exactly short.

Well, you're going to have to figure out where in the rail a new hole needs to be to mount it into the floor. then
drill that hole. This will leave you some excess going lower down toward the bottom of your car, you may need to
chop that excess to make the fit correct.

I have some spair seats with height adjustment if you like. You could transfer the rails and plastic to your current seat.

i thought the "max low" position on the adjustables was about the same as the normal setting on the fixed position seats. If not, how much lower do they go? And if this is not the case, how much do ya want for the rails?

Oh DUH. Since the WRX driver's side seat has height adjustment, I would think that the position it's in relative to the passenger seat could be lower OR higher. . . so it might at least be able to go down a good inch for helmet clearance. . .
. . . anyone have 2002+ WRX seats in their Legacy who can confirm this?

I haven't seen stock Legacy seats in a Legacy, but the WRX seats just seem thicker and have much more bolstering than the stock seats. They sit kinda high but not too bad. Yet, I pulled behind a C5 Corvette and it felt like I was sitting in a minivan, though

. You never hear about people trying to lower those things.
And with the adjustment you can put the seat so high that someone 5'-0" would hit their head on the liner.
