Stock Sport Sedan Mufflers

I was bored today so I decided to cut my stock SS muffler apart with the ol plasma cutter. When I cut a chunk out of the top, I was dismayed to find probably one of the most restrictive mufflers I have ever seen. To begin with, the input exhaust is slammed against the back wall of the muffler, inhibiting flow greatly. It then must pass through another maze of tubing before it finally terminates at the exhaust tips. Anyway, my point is, with turbocharged cars you want to get the best flow possible, and the stock muffler is not conducive to flow....so get rid of it!!!!

That's what happens when you have to comply to exhaust regulations :)

It's funny, because OEM 05 LGT Resonators have straight through designs, with huge baffless off to the sides.

OMG! WTH is going on in there? I'll try and figure out the flow path and see what needs to be hit w/ a hole saw I guess. Not as easy as I thought it would be.

What's going on in there is exhaust regulation compliance.
