Changing the Grill

I want to get rid of the stock grill on my car. What I plan on doing is, Taking out the lil bumpy things and replacing with that mesh stuff, either that or just leaving it empty. I'd like to keep the lil round emblem in the front but im not sure if I cut out the rest of the stuff if it will still be attached to the outside. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to go about this and still keep the badging?

Just go without the badging. . . . more hardcore that way.

Well I don't have either yet, I don't really havea preference as to which one to use. Any suggestions of where to buy from?

mesh can look good, as long as its flat black and not chrome or such. Also don't get mesh with openings too small - looks bad.

I still havnt seen mesh look good. If its purely function over form then go ahead.

Just get an L grille. Paint the outside rim the color of your car, and the line in the middle flat black. it'll be clean, and custom.

That's hella oldschool, too! Almost a year ago.
Back when Ruby still had her wheel covers on!
Bah, and there's the ass end of my rice-mobile on the left. . . . she's the one being traded in on the monster.

That would look pretty sick if it were powdercoated black.

Yup, paint it black and it'd look SICK! The edges are a little rough though, I'd see about recessing it a little bit more.

mkay few more questions, anyone know where I can find the color codes for our cars? Where can I find different color emblems or will i have to stick with the stock one? And finally what is the grill made of, plastic, fiberglass, some sort of cheap metal?

The mesh is almost always metal . . usually aluminum or stainless. . . sometimes even galvanized steel.

Different emblems can be found on ebay quite often. Black, pink, and blue for the stars and the same for an "i". I'm not sure why you'd want an "i" unless you own an imprezza, personally.

Even though I'm getting a WRS STi . . . if I were to put an aftermarket emblem on, I wouldn't be inclined to go with the "I" anyway. . . just doesn't look right.
The constellation is classic.

Okay okay lasy question I swear

I'm sorry for being a post whore tonight but I've got the mod spirit right now ~_~. So yeah, What would be the best way to recondition the black trim around the car? I tried to use that plastic polish stuff from tutrle wax but it didn't really help much. They've pretty much turned a grayish-black color which is a foul color.

Ewww. . . that's one detailing "mod" I've never really been too sure on.
Black trim has much suck.
