Damn key broke, again :x

So I get back to my car from hiking a little bit, open the trunk with the key, put my walking stick in, close the trunk, go to my car, put the key in, turn... SNAP. My key snapped off at the base of the grindings in my door. Apparently I didn't have it all the way in and it just snapped before I even had to turn hard enough to notice it wasn't all the way in. I got my mom to bring me out a spare, of course mine wasn't on me...f' murphy... Anyrate, now I've got the end of the key in my car door and wondering how I'm going to get it out. The little key hole cover has slid back over the hole so I'll have to negotiate that. I'm thinking a massive magnet or a really tiny drop of super glue on the tip of a needle or something? But I don't want to mar the paint on my door and I don't want to glue my inner lock workings. Anybody have any ideas?

Also, this is the second key for this car I've had break freakishly on me. The last one left me stranded out in the middle of the national forest with my gf late at night in the rain ... it was a long night filled with learning experiences. Thankfully this didn't happen to me while I've been out backpacking. Anybody else notice a high rate of key failure?

Great directions, I'll keep that as the back up plan. I'm finally going to get my valve cover gaskets next week and hopefully some other stuff too, weather permitting, and I don't want to have to spend too many days screwing with my car.
Doesn't sound too bad except for getting the handle off. One thing I'm unclear on, is it the inside handle or the outside handle that has to get removed? I've pulled off interior side panel several a few times but never looked at the locking stuff.

Anyone else?

Magnet won't work no matter how powerful.

Okay, so last week I tried to take out my lock. Got the door panel off and everything but can't figure out how to get to the screws that hold the door handle lock on. I didn't see anything in the other posts (if I overlooked, sorry) about having to remove my window. Is this required to get out my lock, and if so, how do I remove my window. Thanks guys.

you have to roll it up and down, iirc.
