I don't know what it's name is...

I saw a manual boost controller on Ebay a while ago, and could not buy it then.
Now that I am looking to buy one, I can't find the one I want.
I don't remember the name of it, but it was a 2 stage manual boost controller that had a fighter pilot cockpit switch that would switch between the two preset boost levels.
Anyone know who makes this?

Was it Turbo XS?

Sounds like the Turbo XS dual stage:

They usually go for around $165-180 new

Thank you?
Now next question.
Do you believe it is worth it?
Is there another controller that allows me to switch between two preset boost levels at a better price?
Is there one that is a better quality?
Sorry that was more than one question.

You could get a used real EBC for not too much more than that. Look on ebay for a HKS EVC or GReddy Profec, I would never spend that much on a MBC, especially a turboXS one.

It's a really cool concept being able to switch between two boost levels. Leave it at stock for around town daily driving and just flick the switch for spirted drives or track time. I personally have better things to spend that kinda money on. I've heard you could make your own MBC for under $10. In terms of quality, I've heard Turbo XS makes good products but I'm not speaking from personal experience.

why not 2 cheap mbc's wired in parallel and a switch valve?

I think Hallman makes one for about half the price. Hallman makes good boost controllers too.

You don't even need a switch valve. You could just plumb the two MBCs in parallel and put a lever-operated ball valve in series with the lower-pressure one. When the valve is open, you should get the lower boost level. And when it's closed, you get the higher level. Five seconds under the hood to switch between the settings. Or route the hoses through the firewall and stick the valve on the dash somewhere.

TurboXS's MBC products are a total waste of money IMHO.

Vikash, do you have a thread you already wrote up on this, or is this something you just now thought up?
If not, how would I put the two MBCs in parallel?
I am not that familiar with the installation of it.

I may have mentioned it in other threads... it's really pretty simple.
Connect a hose from the compressor outlet to a tee. Connect each of the other fittings on the tee to the inlet of a ball-and-spring MBC. Connect a ball valve in series with one of the MBCs. Then connect the outlet of the ball valve to the outlet of the other MBC with a tee, and connect the remaining fitting of the tee to the wastegate actuator.

I was planning to do something similar to this in the past (and still do, if I ever get around to it). My plan was a "3-stage" MBC using 2 MBCs, 2 boost control solenoids, a 3-way switch and lots of vacuum hose and tees and wiring.
Basically with my setup the settings were stock (or more precisely wastegate spring pressure which was stock on the RX for which I was designing this), low and high, where "low" and "high" are the two MBCs.
I actually have all the parts I'd need, too, except for 1 more MBC and the 3-way switch, I just haven't gotten around to actually building it yet.

I love this idea. Would keep the car "mild" for most daily driving applications, but when that wrx owner is being a douche, at the light you can flip a switch an toast him.

Kids and toys. I couldn't stand not getting all the power and I can use my foot to control the boost.
The only good reason to do this is if you have to let a girl drive your car or you have two tunes, one for low boost and max MPG.
Don't spend money on that, you could hook up a easy one with one MBC, one pressure switch, one T, one bleeder type valve, and your stock BCS (boost control solenoid).
Run the lines like so: Turbo outlet to T. T to MBC. MBC to wastgate. Other T to BCS. BCS outlet to Bleeder Valve. Make sure to use a restrictor inline before the T.
Wire it so the when the pressure switch is on it will power your in cab switch. wire that to the BCS.
Set the MBC for your low boost setting. Then bleed off with the BCS open for high boost.
The BCS is a simple on/off device, just because the ECU cycles it doesn't mean it has to be used that way. I use the pressure switch so it's not on all the time because it might burn out.
This is not tested, just thought up reading this post.

Using the throttle to limit boost does mean that the boost is made less efficiently; it's better to make 6 psi and have no restriction at the throttle than to make 12 psi and have a 6 psi restriction at the throttle.
Wouldn't you want to use a microswitch on the throttle pedal or lever/cam rather than a pressure switch? It doesn't seem right to me to trigger higher boost based on lower boost.

Why? The solenoid only needs to be open when at positive pressure, that will keep it closed more so it won't burn out.
I'd maybe set it up with a button on the steering wheel, overtake button like in F1

Oh, wait, I'm dumb. I missed the whole part about the in-cabin switch.

You could also wire up two or three or..... you get the point, make as many different levels of boost as you want.
