Do you eat sushi? There's a Mongolian BBQ in Williamsport that has fresh sushi, an oriental buffet and, of course, a BBQ grill where you fill up your own plate and they cook it for you fresh. Maybe we should go there when you're in town instead of doing our own BBQ. There would be no mess to clean up and the BBQ place is cheap. They have veggie food too.

Oh, and I can't wait to see your thesis! :)

Cool, yes, I enjoy good sushi very much. And Mongolian barbecue is lots of fun. I'd love to check that place out.

Awesome! More time for the BBS!

I didn't know it was architecture.

Since I won't have any books for the meet, we can all read Vikash's thesis.

Thank you guys so much.

It is indeed a huge load off, Josh and Sam. I just felt soooo relieved when I got the letter. I still have a little more stuff to do (like try to publish a paper) but that's nothing in comparison.

You're right, Matt... I did have to jump through a lot of hoops and that's all finally over. My work should continue and most likely will, but I'm no longer going to fight anybody to make that happen.

Yes, Michael... I now have no excuse to be so out of touch.

Steve, the Program of Computer Graphics at Cornell is part of the school of Architecture. Basically, when the program was started, the field of Computer Science didn't consider Computer Graphics to be relevant, so the program found a home in the Architecture school. So I'm going to be a Master of Architectural Science. It's kind of funny... but everybody in the world of CG knows that Cornell's PCG is in architecture.

Yes, it was a tremendous amount of work, AWD_addict. Even though I've now been in a 2-year master's program for about four years, though, I think it was worth it. I'm really happy with my work.

If anyone has some free time and wants to read... http://www.graphics.cornell.edu/~v/thesis/

And there are lots of pictures if you don't like reading the text. :)

That's extremely interesting, Vikash. I've only started reading it and I'm drawn in, nicely done. I'm sitting here with a piece of pizza in hand, reading your thesis and I saw your statement in the acknowledgements, nice. I won't spoil it for anyone. :)

Matt - Yeah, I'm pushing the BBQ idea. It's my obsessive side coming out. Meh, if it isn't a consensus then we'll skip it.

Reading this paper, I've already got a million questions but I'll ask some other time.

Is that equation a geometric series? Oh man, I'm having an integral calculus flashback.

FINALLY your advisor came back and you got it done!

Time for a Mid-A BBBQ :)

:)

Which equation, Scott? There aren't any geometric series in there... it all looks more complex than it really is. Since it's all discrete source information, even the calculus gets discretized.

I love talking about this work, so ask me all about it at the F&S.

Phil - Yeah, I was surprised he signed it all as willingly as he did. I think he thinks he has more leverage over me than he does now.

Thanks, Laurel!

Sigh. I just found an error in the biographical sketch... Oh well. Still, the best thesis is a done thesis.

Props man. I wouldn't mind being out of school.

That thesis looks like a pain. THe math doesn't too bad, touched on a couple basic things I did this year.

Thanks, man. It actually wasn't really that much of a pain to write... Once I started writing it all flowed pretty easily since it was all stuff I was intimately familiar with. The hard part was just dealing with the people (or person) I had to deal with...

If this gets published, we'll have official props in the world of Aortic Aneurysms. Bitchin.

Way to go mang!

Wow. . . . major respect, Vikash.

I just recently finished my bachelor's in business, after taking an eight-year break, and even that felt amazing to finally draw to a close. I can only imagine how accomplished you must feel, right now.

I'll have to sit down and read your thesis, too. I have no doubt once I start reading it, I'll want to keep reading until I've finished it. ;)
