Running rich

I am running really rich on my ej22t. I have a lot of engine check light issues and can't seem to figure it out. I think most of the problem revolves around a bad knock sensor but I am not sure how to see if it is bad. I plan on just trying a regular tune up like plugs wires filters and all that but right now I can smell residual fuel in the oil and that ain't good. If anybody has any input on any of this please help. Anything from good plugs and wires to why I have six or seven different engine check signals.

Posting all the ECU codes would help

Ok I clear the ECU and ran the car down the road and back to get it nice and warm and hear are the codes that I got 22, 24, 35. I think that is the knock sensor and purge control vavle and I don't know the other one.

Purge control solenoid valve is the last one.
24 and 35 are probably just nuisance codes. I guess I would start with your current game plan: check the knock sensor and give it a tune up.

Yeah thank I just found that the codes are knock sensor, purge control and air control I am just going with the game plan.

changed the knock sensor and cleared the codes. This is good. It lost a little power

I think because it is not running so rich but this is a good starting point for me to be able to start some mods.

Scratch that I ran for about a day and the check engine comes on and then it clears. I went to check the codes and got all the same ones. The very first code that comes out is 12 but it only comes out one time when I first start to read them. I am getting frustated here. I noticed that the light usaully comes on when I am in fourth or fifth gear cruising down the road. Does the check engine reset on its own after a time out and no bad signals?

hello.
if my car is running very rich, which i think it does, can the rich-condition steal a lot of horsepower?

thanks. because i can floor my pedal in fifth gear, crusing at 70mph, and my boost hits 1 bar at once, but my car is hardly going faster :p

What is your engine rpm while cruising at 70mph? You most likely need to shift down to a lower gear. If the engine rpm is too low, even though boost builds, the engine will lug and not accelerate like you want it to. Shifting to a lower gear is usually the solution.

hey.
rpm is 2500 at 60 mph /100 kmh
rpm is 3000 at 75mp / 120 kmh

I know it's a late reply, but yeah if you're at 2500 rpm, you should look at downshifting.
