Whiteline 20 mm Front Sway Bar + solid endlinks.

Post by ultrasonic »

Recently installed on 91 Legacy Sport Sedan:

-Whiteline 20 mm front sway bar for BC/BF Legacy Turbo, part number BFS18
-“no-name” solid front end links for WRX.

Installation: I won’t do a step by step documentation, as this has been covered on various other forums. Plus, it’s pretty simple, you’ll figure it out. The main points are:
-Front suspension should be loaded during install: use wheel ramps, do not jack up the car.
-Wheel (or wheels) do NOT need to come off the car for this project.
-Use combination wrenches and sockets in 12 mm and 14 mm.
-Spray the nuts and bolts with PB Blaster or WD40 ahead of time.
-The jack plate can be partially removed to get the sway bars off and on. Remove the two rear bolts, loosen the front two, let the plate hang down enough to clear the bar.
-Don’t forget to lubricate the sway bar bushings, and be sure to torque all bolts to factory specs when putting it all back together ( http://www.clubwrx.net/forums/attachmen ... stid=91984 )

Here is an ebay auction for the end links I bought:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... gory=42609

They are good quality, they fit correctly, and are cheaper than any other after market link I’ve found.

Result: Only a short 20 mile jaunt on one of my favorite twisty deserted roads, but it’s enough to make me wish I had done this upgrade a year ago. Not only is the 20 mm bar some 52% stiffer than the stock 18 mm bar, the improvement of fresh, stiffer bushings is also much appreciated. The Whiteline bar came with a set of yellow urethane bushings. The steering feel is more stable, the car feels more planted, and generally more responsive. There is a noticeable decrease in body roll during cornering.

What’s not to like?
