anyone know what this thing is or does?

this little thing gets hot to the touch when the car runs for like a minute, what does it do and is it supposed to get hot

Thats the dropping resistor, its a trans. electronics part. It gets hot.

It absorbs power from the TCU for line shift pressure.

If you look at this diagram, you can see it ties into the line pressure solenoid.

for some reason i thought it was that thingy that you'd put a fuse in to switch an awd auto to fwd for service reasons.but then again i just looked in the owners manual,showing were it's located. :oops:
