motor rebuild challenge

For all you kids working on your motors currently (as of 6/13/05), lets see whos running first!

I just started the engine pull tonight, I need to drive to the West Coast Subaru show in July. My challenge isnt the time, its the money! I am going to spend more money on the clutch than the actual engine rebuild. I will be reinstalling the SC without engine management but I will be running the stock crank pulley so only 4-5 psi.

Who signing up?

Well, since you had such a head start, only a small virus infected monkey. But hey, its still a living breathing monkey that you can call your own for the three hours it lives after arriving at your door stop courtesy of UPS!

Of course the biggest question is?.....Does it run?

sweet dude, monkeys are awesome, but knowing UPS it'll be dead before it arrives.

and yeah it runs, for now.

My motor is going back in today. I hope to drive it to a wedding about 150 miles away tommorrow!

Just as long as that clutch plate shows up!

And guess what?

No clutch plate on the UPS truck today. Motor install delayed till Tuesday.

Doug,

Number 4 piston and what other piston were the ones to go? They were the same ones as before right?

I noticed that the scuffing on the block I'm tearing apart was the greatest on the number 4 piston. I really wonder if it's coincidence or something more.....

It lives!

Such a sweet sweet sound it makes.

For my clutch I ended up using a Forester flywheel, a Kennedy 6 puck carbonic disk and an RS 2.5 pressure plate.

Drives 100 % normal. At least in the driveway. I have to eat since I havent in 24 hours.
