does anyone no if the car can run with a broken maf sensor

Unplug it and see what happens.
My car will stall.

It can run, just not very well.

i unpluged it and it wont start.
so it will run ruff THAWA, now what if i have my ecu chiped and it runs fine? then when i take out the chip it runs ruff like every rpm is chop-e all the way up the rpm range.
the reason why i am asking is becuse i am trying to make my e-managa work and it gives me a error code of the maf, all the wiring is right so its not that. i cant check it at my deal becuse some one stole the adaperter cable but a new one will be in soon.
when ever i try adding something on maf signal the car does not run its like i un pluged it.
