A friend gave me his PS, because he got a ps2, aboot 6 months ago. I've played it all of 2 times til 2 days ago, when I got gt2. (I have other, cooler gaming systems to waste my time, on, and all i had was ff8) At any rate, I finally get my a class license, and it's time to buy a car. What do I do? Go to the damn subaru dealer and spend 4g's on a subaru 360. If nobody knows what this is, I dont blame you, i didnt even know these existed, REAR(not mid) engine, rear wheel drive geo metro pretty much. Pushing approximately 34 ponies at the flywheel. yes, I got screwed. So i race a few more, and trade it in on a 91 silvia(aka 240sx). Now I gotta raise $12,000 for a legacy.
I suck at vidya games.
Oh, and cant wait to play the new grand tourismo, apparently the graphics are AMAZING.

As surprising as this might sound I won a hell of a lot of races with a 93 del sol. Then I went 300zx then escudo and it was over :\ I want to replay it with a legacy but cant find my game

I bought an old Supra and saved up enough for a WRX and raced that until I got an Escudo. Nothing else compares once you drive that car though. I still haven't played GT3 and was thinking about buying a PS2 until I borrowed an XBox and someone gave me a copy of Colin McRae Rally 3. Now no more XBox but I still own the game. Now I have to buy an XBox. That game is awesome and extremely addicting.

The Escudo is ludacrisly-fast!
Just have to get the thing up over 120 MPH before you can actually control the thing, though. . . . too much power, not enough weight. . . that's why it's one big wing of downforce.

I start with some old rear wheel drive car... can't think of what it is. Might be a silvia. It needs a suspension really bad but is turbocharged. But then I save up for the WRX. Power to weight ratio and AWD means I kill everything till I get to the real big dogs horsepower wise. Then I buy the Nissan R34 Skyline. Game over till I do the specific races where you have to buy a certain car. Saving up for the WRX is the worse, after that... cake. I rarely touch a 2 wheel drive car unless I have to.

I've noticed that i'm horrible at the fwd cars, I've gotten the hang of rwd, but when I'm in an awd vehicle, it's actually like i'm in the driver's seat of the subby, responds exactly the same(cept for acceleration.

Hmmm. . . this all reminds me, I should continue my career mode on V-Rally3 when I get home tonight.

It's the damn slaloms.... If I cant get any idea of how to wire my gauges in by tomorrow afternoon, I'm spending my hour before work getting those fuckers(hopefully without throwing the control at my television.)

Just try slowing your run down. . . . like in autocross.
If you reduce your speed and keep it constant, you won't be throwing the vehicle around each cone as hard. . .meaning you won't have to overcorrect, meaning your tires slipping won't throw you out of the "sweet spot" line through the course.
Just give the run a try at 75% speed or so.

Done it. That's how i got my clean run at autox. Problem is.... when i do that, I'm too friggin slow(6 seconds) and when I go balls to the walls, I either crash, or still end up too slow.

Read the help and watch the example of a computer car doing it. You have to get the idea of how on-throttle and off-throttle controls your rear end and steering balance. If you get why stuff makes you drive better in the game... it applies to real life. The video game is like a theory course, then all you have to do is go out to a real race track and apply it. Like I did

When in doubt watch the preview. It will show you what you may need to know to pass the tests usually. If you think that crap's hard try the gt3 super license

now that's a bitch! You have to do a perfect lap. it's timed and you cant even put a tire off the road or you fail. I personaly like the awd cars until 500+hp then they can't turn under accelaration so i like the rwd cars better. I haven't played my gt2 in a long time and I almost have gt3 beat....if I could only get the damn super license!
That Suzuki pikes peak car in gt2 SUCKS! go straight really fast, slam into wall to turn,go really fast, slam into wall to turn, go really fast....well you get the idea. It and that stupid drag car.

Upcoming games I can't wait for. GT4 , the next Baldars Gate, Metal Gear Solid 3, the new Hogs of War
(original was a ps1 game, best turn based game ever!) There's more but I can't think of them right now.

You posted while I was typing

It is amazing how realistic the game play is in the gt games, it really can help teach you driving techniques that can be applied in the real world.

I got a 98? WRX RA typeR, wow... one of the best out of the box cars on there. I didn' have to adjust anything.

That's the great thing about the WRX's in GT. No suspension adjustment necessary for a long long time. Plus it is set up perfectly to take the *ahem* shortcuts that 2wd layout cars would only spin in. I got the super license in GT3. Yes, really hard. But you get to do a race where it's all flat out speed, you go in win it and have beacoup cash. I was to the point where I would have 1-2 MIL in the bank at any given time. If I wanted to buy a car max it out and fool around with it, not a problem. The Benz CL-55 (maybe CLK?) was a pleasant surprise when fully tweaked out... very fast very nimble. Fun to drive RWD.

GT1 and GT2, always start with a Honda FWD. Always! GT1 was own3d by me with my stock little 93 del Sol, and I had no mercy on GT2 with my 91 CRX Si.
Then, as soon as I could afford the Subarus with some nice mods, it was over
My pers fav in GT1 was the WRX STi wagon, and in GT2 was the GT-B...
GT3 I've played a little, and the best starter car in that is a hachi-roku (AE86 Corolla)... Initial D style baby

I have watched the examples, and read the how to. I'm just inept. Gonna find someone with gt, and give them my memory card to beat that license for me. lol.

just keep trying until you get it... it may not seem like you will, but in time you will. it took me a week to get my A liscense, but i got it.
after a while if you know that you are off to a bad start, you can just hit start and retry over and over again till you get it!
you really do use most of the skills that you learn in the game!
good luck!
