I went and looked at a 91 SS today, its a rio red 5MT, and its local.

The bad first
-420000 miles on original engine (no its not a misprint)
-The owner took out the rear driveshaft because the rear diff was bad
-Has some rust

The good
-It runs and drives ok
-Its stock, although the owner stuck a "GT-R" badge on the dash
-Engine feels strong and pulls pretty good
-Its 350$

I think I have to rescue this car from certain junking... What does everyone think?? IS 420000 mi too much?

Holy shit! 420k miles? For 350 bucks i'd buy it. Especially since your car is gone. Hmm, I'd be weary of the center differential though. But shit, it's Rio Red, you can't go wrong with a Rio Red car.

Do it.

Were it me, I'd wait until the end of the summer to swap in an N/A and rebuild the turbo engine over the winter. Yeah, that center diff is probably toast.

Buy it. Drive it just how it is. I wanna see how much longer the motor can go.

Get it. With 420k on the original engine it was probably made on a good day at the factory.

Wow, 420k, that's impressive!

I'm averaging about 4.2k per engine it seems. :(

Nice buy for $250 though.

Was the rear diff a LSD? I've never really heard of one failing before but then again most aren't going 420k either I guess.
