Will the 96 Impreza L2.2 5spd fit!?

I'm asking if the manual transmission will bolt up well and all the gearing work out from a 96 Impreza L parts car to be put in my ej22t wagon.

the impreza transmission has a different clutch type. You'd have to convert it to hydraulic....assuming it isn't already hydralic. It'd probably be a good idea to swap clutch master cylinders so the bore size is the same (again assuming it's hydraulic)
Not sure what the final drive ratio is. but your turbo legacy has 3.900.

would this be a difficult task to convert it to hydraulic? i would be getting the whole impreza car itself, so i'd have the parts ready. but would my ecu handle this difference/?

First find out if it's hydraulic. If it is, it shouldn't be a biggy. Since you're getting the whole car, diff ratio doesn't matter. I'd use your diff if the ratio is the same, just because it means less work. But if you need to swap it, you can.
If the impreza is cable, you'll have to get the hydraulic clutch stuff for the push clutches.
ECU doesn't care what tranny you have. That's the nice thing about the manuals.

Well my automatic doesn't have reverse (well it slips when cold, but otherwise nothing), and the impreza would be 900$ (body has a lot of rust and is missing panels

. would you consider the investment a wise one?
i thought my rear diff was 3.54*(something like that, printed on the rear diff itself).

Wait.....do you have a manual tranny now? Or are you looking to do a swap?

sorry if i didn't make it clear. i would be doing a complete swap.. broken 4eat to a 5spd manual...because the automatics are really expensive and aren't too fun. this is the best deal i've found so far for a Subaru 5spd trans.

If you've got a whole car, and the entire mechanical stuff, it "should" work. I'd verify the driveshaft length is going to be the same. I think hardy (thawa) mentioned that as long as the wheel base is the same the driveline should work.
