Completely different

It's interesting to me how much different two cars that are mostly the same can drive so differently.
I've put plenty of miles on my grandfather's wagon (more than he himself has actually
), and I've obviously put a lot of miles on my Legacy. So I know how they both drive in and out.
They drive like two completely opposite cars. My Legacy is like a race car compared to the wagon. My car is reasonably fast; my grandfather's wagon is downright slow. My car really sounds good once you get the revs up; my grandfather's wagon has the same uninspired tone all the way through the rev range. My car is light on its feet and handles very well; my grandfather's wagon handles like a 60's Buick.
Now, I do understand they're opposite on everything except being nonturbo and 4WD. My Legacy is a stick, the wagon's an auto. My Legacy's a sedan, the wagon's... well, a wagon
. My Legacy doesn't have much for options, the wagon has ABS, sunroof, etc. My Legacy has had much of the outer engine stuff replaced (stuff like knock sensor, coilpack, etc.) while the wagon has all that stuff original. My Legacy has some suspension stuff (the new GR2's and the Turbo rear swaybar) while the wagon has blown original struts and NO rear swaybar.
But it's just weird to me that two very similar cars drive so different.
