East Coast Subaru Shootout '05, Aug 27th.

Well, it looks like thing are going to be a little different this year. W&L Subaru has pulled out of the event this year because of the rain and low turn out the past couple years, so Beaver Bob is throwing the event unsponsered as a show of support for the Suby community. Pretty cool of him I think. But since there are no sponsors this year it looks like there won't be any prize money (not that that mattered to most of us).
Rumor is that W&L will be back next year and have ESX, Mach V, SOA and their 22b ect... Hopefully they come back into the mix.
So anyways, it will be on Saturday, August 27th, at BSD. Race time is 10 am to 5pm and cost is $30 to race and free to spectate.
Since W&L won't be doing the preparty at the dealership I guess I'll host another BBQ shop night or just hanging out, whatever.
So, who's coming?

Yeah, I'll try to make this one.
Wait, there's a rallycross the next day. What time does the shootout end?

I should be done with my community service by then. If I am I'm game. I'll keep you abreast of any changes. If nothing else we could maybe do something the night before. I can be there for that. I always like hanging out with bbs members. If people are around and like swimming in cool, rushing mountain water, I know a good swimming spot that's also a fun drive away. Hint: You have to go by the hill climb to get there.

It ends at about 5pm. Most of us will probably go back to my house for dinner and to hang out, drive back roads ect.. though. You can leave whenever you want to though. The racing starts at 10 am.

Scott- Ya, hopefully you'll be done in time to come down. It does last until 5pm though so even if you can't get there until 1-1:30 it will be worth it.
I'd show off the '93 on Friday night and race the '91 on Saturday if I were you.

I'll try to swing by from start until lunchtime at least. After I leave, it's 7.5 hours from there to Four Oaks NC
I've never been to a straight line event before so I dunno how it works. Do you get a certain number of runs or something? Are there certain heats or does everyone just keep getting in line and taking turns all day?

As many runs as you want. You can race whoever you want too.
Update- I just got a reply from BeaverBob and he said that W&L IS still hosting the event, so I'm not sure what's going on.

ESX and a ton of rally drivers were here for the pikes peak hill climb not that long ago. Heuberger motors also had their 22b out for people to look at. Good time and came with a free t-shirt.

I think it would be best if raced an AMC Gremlin

You might not want any of the 304 V-8 gremlins, they were slow as sold but stripping off the pollution controls and fitting with a nice Holley 4 barrel carb and dual exhaust, got pretty quick

The Gremlin X ruled over all!
I'll be there and this time I won't be driving home Sat night unless y'all chase me away with torches.

Hahaha, sweet! I always felt really bad that you drive so far and then turn around and bail. Plus, we kinda like you too.
