Okay, I did a search but came up short on this one. I know a few people here spoke of piggyback ecu's but Venom was never mentioned. Has anyone here ever messed around with or knew someone that played with the Venom 400?

I haven't but I've heard a few reports of them on other cars, and they suck... Very little power gain for the money is what I was told...
I would suggest Al's ProECM TorqueChip. Al is in Colorado and is one of the better Subaru tuners in the country (
http://www.iwtu.net). He was on here as mile hi, but he hasn't posted in a very long time...
Also ask Josh for some feedback, as he has this chip installed on his car...

My opinion.....at least on my car......don't bother spending the money. Car ran way too rich. It may work differently on a 5spd, but on my auto.....it wasn't too good.

i read an extremely detailed review on this by some guy and he was talking about how the venom 400 chip is a scam.
he said that it hooks up to your throttle position indicator or something and all it did was tell your car to have 60% throttle when you had it pushed to 40% throttle.
he said he had it dyno'd and he didn't gain any hp from it either...just faster accellerations.
but he said the faster accellerations could be accomplished if he took the chip of and pushed the gas pedal down a little further lol.

I was just about to post that - a couple guys fell for it on the old Saturn boards and we figured out that it just made the car think it was further into the throttle than it was - so of course it runs rich.
About as useful as the Turbonator.
