Is the removal and installation of a knock sensor on a 1991 Legacy 2.2L 2WD just a matter of removing the old and replacing with the new or is it as complicated as the Haynes book says it is? Thanks in advance.

yeah....just remove it and put the new one in. No need to remove the intake manifold or any of the crap the haynes book says.

FYI, Haynes is one of the worst manuals you can buy; and a Chiltons isn't much better (but significantly better regardless)
The best manual for our cars is the FSM, seeing as Chiltons and Haynes take a good portion of the information from the FSM for their book.

Be sure to clean up the surface before you put the new one down there.
